After two thorny matches in the first two rounds of the tournament, against Francisco Cerúndolo and Ricardas Berankis respectively, Nadal offered his hierarchical version against the Italian, who barely managed to tickle him and was an ideal stimulus for the Majorcan to raise his level of play ahead of the second leg of the competition.
Without setbacks, serious and rallying more naturally, the champion of 22 majors gave an acceleration.
This is his tenth access to the second round of the English
major
in 15 participations.
Carlos Alcaraz (against Jannik Sinner) and Serbian Novak Djokovic (Tim van Rijthoven) will take part in them this Sunday.
Meanwhile, Nadal will face an opponent with fond memories, since the only time they have met, this year at the third stop at Roland Garros, the Spaniard achieved a consistent victory: 6-3, 6-2, 6-4.
