Won't football teams be able to sell more than two tickets for the same game? | Israel today

The court this week discussed the ability of Premier League teams to sell tickets to subscribers, whose stands were closed following riots for the game.

An end to the phenomenon?

Last season, clubs, led by Hapoel Tel Aviv, used the association's bylaws to sell tickets to subscribers for goals 4-5 after they were closed due to a handful of riots.

The collective penalty meant that in the game against Maccabi Haifa, for example, the team's subscribers had to buy another ticket for goal 8, even though they had a subscription for goals 4-5 in their pockets, even though a small number of red rioters threw objects at the field.

A hearing was held in the Tel Aviv District Court this week, when attorneys Assaf Priel and Nadav Feinman of Yigal Arnon-Tadmor Levy asked the court to force the association to stop with the absurd collective punishment.

The Tel Aviv District Court ordered the Football Association to announce by October 1, 2222 if it cancels the provision in the association's bylaws.

The judges at the hearing asked the association's representatives to explain the meaning of the decision and clarified that it is better that by 1.10 am another hearing is scheduled, the bylaws will be changed to avoid further hearings.

"This is an economic injury to all the fans in the stands, including those who have no part in the riot or breach of discipline."

The court clarified that as long as before 1.10.2022 there is a decision to close a grandstand, and the installation remains valid, fans will be able to apply for a temporary injunction to the court.

After clarifying his position, the court suggested that the association consider repealing the problematic provision and save the court hearing.

A representative of the association announced during the discussion that the association is working on the establishment of an external and independent committee, which will discuss the issue of punishment in football, headed by a recognized factor in the world of sports in Israel and around the world.

The time frame in which the committee will operate is no more than 60 days.
