Cristiano Ronaldo apparently wants to leave Manchester United!
The reason?
The Red Devils don't play in the Champions League.
Manchester/Munich - A season in the Champions League without Cristiano Ronaldo?
That's hard to imagine for many football fans around the world - and apparently also for the Portuguese himself. Since moving from Sporting Lisbon to Manchester United in the summer of 2003, the now 37-year-old has played in the premier class for 19 consecutive seasons.
If CR7 stays with the Red Devils, this series ends this year.
Because: The English record champions only finished sixth in the past Premier League season – the reality is therefore Europa League.
Cristiano Ronaldo: Portuguese asks for release - Champions League as the main reason
According to consistent reports from British media on Saturday (July 2nd), Ronaldo is said to have asked United to let him go if they made a reasonable offer.
The
Daily Mail
,
The Athletic
and the TV broadcaster
Sky Sports
wrote this on their online pages.
The Portuguese dares to play at the top level for a few more years and wants to continue playing at the highest level - i.e. in the Champions League - for the last few years of his sporting career, the
Times
reported .
A few weeks ago, speculation arose about a possible Ronaldo departure.
However, this subsided when the superstar welcomed the new coach Erik ten Hag in an interview on the Manchester United club website.
Ronaldo wished the former Bayern amateurs coach "the best" and said he believes "we're going to win trophies next year".
Cristiano Ronaldo to Bayern?
Lewandowski transfer could get the carousel rolling
Ronaldo surprisingly returned from Juventus Turin to Manchester United last summer, where he had already played from 2003 to 2009.
Recently there had been rumors that FC Bayern should also be interested in the goalscorer.
Sports director Hasan Salihamidzic denied
Sky
at the time : "Cristiano Ronaldo is a top player with an outstanding career.
However, the rumor that is circulating is a rumor with no truth to it.”
According to the
Times
, however, the topic could become heated should Robert Lewandowski actually leave Bayern.
The transfer poker with FC Barcelona is in full swing.
The Ronaldo fee would probably be manageable for the German record champions.
According to
transfermarkt.de
, his market value is 30 million euros.
But it's hard to imagine that Munich would actually be willing to pay the Portuguese's astronomical annual salary.

Interest from Chelsea and Italy – United block
The FC Chelsea from the German coach Thomas Tuchel should also be interested in a CR7 commitment after the change of ownership.
New Chelsea boss Todd Boehly is said to have met
with Ronaldo's agent Jorge Mendes in Portugal , according to
The Athletic .
Another option should therefore be the return of the 37-year-old to Italy.
SSC Napoli, Juventus Turin and AS Roma have already been mentioned as potential buyers.

However, Manchester United are not ready to let Ronaldo go.
The English media reported unanimously.
His departure would tear a huge hole.
The Portuguese is the only top attacker in the "Red Devils" squad (24 competitive goals in 2021/2022).
In addition, his contract runs until the summer of 2023. Losing Ronaldo again after United celebrated his return so much last year would be a hard blow.
