Alexandra Massury from MSC Freisinger Bär: The frenzied European champion

With the European Championship triumph in Gdansk, Alexandra Massury has achieved an important milestone.

The 16-year-old already has her sights set on the next one.

– She is one of the absolute top talents in international women's motocross.

16-year-old Alexandra Massury from MSC Freisinger Bär has just won her first big title.

Since last weekend she has been European U18 Champion in the EMX Woman Series.

Alexandra Massury can hardly believe her luck.

"It was just pure joy - it's amazing that I managed to do it," says the newly crowned European Motocross Champion in the 125 cc class, celebrating her greatest success to date.

And of course it won't be her last.

Because the 16-year-old has big plans: "I would like to become world champion in women's motocross," says Massury.

Confident and still overwhelmed by the finale in Gdansk, Poland, she adds: “I have reached a milestone.

The next big goal is world champion.”

Head-to-head race for the European title

It wasn't easy, of course.

The series stretched over a total of seven races, and a maximum of 50 points could be scored at each start.

And it was damn tight until the end: Alexandra Massury had a total of 319 points on her account and was only just ahead of second-placed Danee Gelissen from the Netherlands.

Third was the Swede Tyra Bäckström with 288 points.

"I absolutely had to win the last race, otherwise it wouldn't have been enough," says Massury, who sees her great role model in the multiple Dutch World Champion Jeffrey Herlings.

The MSC driver is at home on the international racetracks.

In the end, she was just ahead in the U18 women's European Championship.

However, it is not easy to emulate the great cracks in their sport.

Women's motocross is nowhere near as important as its men's competition.

According to father Carl Massury, it is correspondingly difficult to get hold of sponsors and works teams.

The daughter sees it the same way.

"I think I would have to be a man, then I would certainly have better chances," she states dryly.

But Alexandra Massury is on the right track.

Their current status can be described as "semi-professional".

Ascending trend.

Because Massury is funded by the ADAC Sports Foundation.

She is also a member of Motorsport Team Germany.

"The first young woman who has ever done that," emphasizes the mighty proud dad.

Alexandra Massury is always on the move

In the end, the young woman went one after the other, the successes piled up.

She had just clinched a day's win on the Välabanan track in Helsingborg (Sweden), and almost a week later she clinched a double victory in Vellahn (Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania).

It's no wonder that at home, at the Freisinger Bär motorsport club, everyone was enthusiastic.

"Alex, we are proud of you and look forward to seeing more of you," said MSC spokeswoman Josefine Zimmermann recently about the amazing development of the motocrosser who lives in Berchtesgaden.

The high-flyer attends a sports school there, so she can combine school and sports.

Everything started for Alexandra at the age of four.

Father Carl was a motocross rider himself and shared his passion for his sport with his two children.

So not only Filius Carl Junior (today 17) soon did his laps on the surrounding motocross courses, but also daughter Alexandra.

But soon that wasn't enough for her.

"Then she tells me she also wants to race in the Südbayern series," recalls her father.

"Sure, I'll pick one for you," he replied.

But the daughter insisted: "Dad, I don't think you understand me.

I want to drive the whole series.”

Training in Austria and at the airport

That was over ten years ago.

Since then, Alexandra Massury has made a name for herself in national and international motocross and has continuously worked her way up.

The lead rider is on a GasGas machine – a Spanish manufacturer that has been taken over by KTM.

And Massury hopes that her career will continue to rise so steeply.

She trains hard for it.

Four times a week for one to two hours each time.

Usually on a nearby site in Austria, but as often as possible on the MSC off-road course at Munich Airport.

She has been a member since 2014.

As does the whole family.

"A matter of honor," says Papa Massury.

His daughter has so far been spared from injuries or major setbacks.

Her next big project is to get a contract for work at GasGas.

Then their competition conditions would improve even more.

And who knows, maybe the MSC Freisinger Bär will soon have a reigning world champion in its ranks.
