Andreas March did really well at the German Swimming Championships.

Wörth – They took place again this year as part of the finals in Berlin.

Der Wörther won a total of three medals.

However, the return to Bavaria turned into an odyssey.

The 40 fastest times according to the best list of the DSV (German Swimming Association) in the respective discipline qualified for the four-day title fights.

Due to the sweltering heat, the days were sweaty and the temperatures in the legendary swimming and diving hall of the Europasportpark were downright pleasantly refreshing.

The back stretches (200, 100 and 50 meters) were each separately on the program for the first three days.

With good performances in the heats, März reached the A-finals of the top eight at all starts.

In the U20 category, Der Wörth was delighted with the bronze medal (200 m) and silver over 100 and 50 m.

With 26.07 seconds over the 50 m he even achieved a new personal best time.

Wörther's times in the top ten, fourth, fifth and sixth, were also impressive in the open ranking.

On the last day, the 200 m individual medley was announced, which he completed by reaching the B final and 8th place in the U20 classification.

"Of course more would have been possible, but the preparations this year just weren't optimal enough for that," stated März.

Due to his current mandatory internship, he had to reduce the training workload by almost half.

On the other hand, he was very satisfied with his results.

The only annoying thing was a missed start outside the pool, namely on the flight home after the end of the competition late on Sunday evening.

Due to a series of unfortunate circumstances - delay of the airport express train and waiting time at the security check, where his fins were subjected to a special check - March finally reached the gate in the sprint, where a stewardess informed him that she had just closed the boarding and the door too would no longer open.

So March had to spend another night in Berlin.

The next morning at 4:30 a.m. we took the ICE back to Munich.

At his internship position, they understood Wörther and gave him the rest of the day off.

So the adventure in Berlin finally came to a happy end.
