Claudia Pons' team defeated Portugal in a final that was decided on penalties (3-3 in regular time, 4-1 in the shootout)

The success in taking penalties (4-1) and the inspiration of the goalkeeper Silvia, has given Spain the title of the European Championship against Portugal (3-3) this Sunday.

The Portuguese dominated the scoreboard for much of the match, but they were unable to stop the reaction of Claudia Pons' team.

Spain gets its second women's futsal European Championship and establishes itself as the great dominator of the tournament.

Again in Portugal and again against the host team.

But in the final the history of the red women's futsal team is enlarged.

Second crown in a row for Spain, dominator of this competition that culminated its second edition in a final game full of alternatives, emotion and determined from six-meter shots.

This edition had nothing to do with the last one, where Spain overwhelmed its rival on that occasion to win the continental title.

This time, and despite the fact that Clauda Pons's team reached the decisive duel with nine victories to their credit, they were handcuffed by the local team that gave the sensation of having perfectly studied the champions.

Spain was uncomfortable from the start.

He had the ball but in inconsequential areas.

The pressure of Portugal, insistent and orderly, complicated the Spanish movement and each loss was a threat.

The goalkeeper Silvia emerged as the savior twice, on clear occasions at the beginning of the match, hand in hand with Ana Azevedo.

But the Spanish goalkeeper could do nothing in the third.

In the 11th minute, a turnover by Irene Córdoba against Azevedo was a lethal counterattack.

She made the wall with Fifó and the Portuguese captain finished to advance her team.

Portugal extended its advantage in minute 19, in a strategic action that was born in a throw-in.

Janice Silva received and crossed to Pisko who, without opposition, scored the second.

A long shot saved Spain to revive their hopes for the second half.

Seventeen seconds before intermission, Ale de Paz picked up a loose ball, lost by Portugal, and executed a shot that went past Ana Catarina.

Claudia Pons's painting minimized damage.

With conviction and haste, the Hispanic team broke into the second half.

The shots of Irene Córdoba and Noelia that did not have a prize and Portugal responded to the counterattack.

But the posts ran into the path of the shots by Ana Azevedo and Inés Fernandes.

He also had a shot to the Spain wood on a Mayte shot.

Spain cornered Portugal supported by Ana Catarina and looked for the tie with long shots especially.

Thus came the equalizer.

Once again Ale de Paz, whom the Pons group sought when they had no solution.

The game revived when a good action by Ana Luján ended with a cross to the area that cleared the local defense.

The ball was loose and De Paz, from outside the area, got the equalizer (2-2).

With the forces adjusted and the spirit of the goal, the Spanish team accelerated towards victory.

Anyone could score but it was the moment of the goalkeepers.

Silvia came to the rescue of Spain and Ana Catarina, in the last action before extra time, avoided Portugal's frustration.

The match had an extra ten minutes to determine the champion and in that time Spain caressed the title.

Portugal wasted three penalties-corners and Pons's team culminated the comeback in the 44th minute with a corner kick by Ana Luján that reached María Sanz to put the ball into the net for the third time.

But Portugal managed to avoid defeat in desperation.

With a goalkeeper-player in the final stretch, she equalized one minute from the end through Pisko, who took the outcome to penalties.

So, Spain was impeccable.

She scored all five that she threw.

Silvia stopped two, Ana Azevedo and Ana Pires, who were definitive.
