Aged 44, this former defender notably passed through Juventus and Croatian international had been without a club since leaving Hellas Verona at the end of last season.
From the departure of Jorge Sampaoli, it was his name that was mentioned most seriously to take over the Marseille bench.
It is now done.
While the Olympians returned to the Commanderie - without their internationals, like PSG - on June 29, their new coach signed a two-year contract on Monday.

âWe found in Igor Tudor what we needed,â says McCourt
Marseille is, already, the 7th club trained by Tudor, passed on the benches of Hajduk Split, in Croatia, its training club (2013-2015, then 2020), the Greeks of PAOK (2015-2016), the Turks of KarabĂŒkspor ( 2016-2017) then Galatsaray (2017), Italians from Udinese (2018, 2019) and finally Hellas Verona (2021-2022).
"I think we have found what we need in Igor Tudor," OM owner Franck McCourt said in a statement.
He is a fighting man, as he has demonstrated throughout his career, both as a coach and as a player.
Trained in Split, I am convinced that he will feel at home in Marseille.
Moreover, his coaching experience at Galatasaray and PAOK, as well as Juventus as a player, prepared him for the level of passion that defines and unites our club and his city.
But above all, as he recently proved at Hellas Verona, Igor is a true leader who offers a bold vision of football, who does not shy away from any challenge and who is determined to pursue excellence.
