Munich / Silverstone - It was an emotional day for the family of Formula 1 legend Michael Schumacher.

The relief at Rennstall Haas was correspondingly great after the young German finished eighth on the track in England where his father once had his worst accident.

At the Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal, Schumacher junior was in seventh place.
However, he retired due to technical problems.

Schumacher must recommend himself for a contract extension in the next five race weekends, was the unmistakable announcement.
He finally withstood the pressure.

"
It's taken long enough.
There was a lot of fun.
With the right strategy, we drove through without making any mistakes.
And we changed the tires at the right time.
We are a team - we win and lose together," said Mick Schumacher after the success at Sky.
His mother Corinna had expressed her enthusiasm via on-board radio: "Micky, I'm super proud of you.
Great job, darling!"
In an eventful race that began with the horror crash of the Chinese Zhou Guanyu (Alfa Romeo), Schumacher even attacked world champion Max Verstappen (Red Bull) on the last lap, who only finished seventh after a number of problems with his car.
And who could only follow the first Grand Prix victory of the Spaniard Carlos Sainz (Ferrari) in the 150th attempt from afar.

She wrote: "For me he is the winner." Just in Silverstone father Michael Schumacher had the worst accident of his career in 1999.
Due to a brake defect on his Ferrari, the record world champion crashed into a tire wall at full speed in the Stowe curve and broke his leg.
As a result, he dropped out six races in a row and ultimately had to cede the world championship title to Mika Häkkinen in the Mercedes.
Now his son has secured his first world championship points.
