The boxing, athletics, wrestling, judo and gymnastics teams arrived at the Syrian-Lebanese border during their return from Algeria after their participation in the Mediterranean tournament.
SANA's camera was greeted by our athletes, who gave an honorable performance that resulted in winning gold and silver medals in boxing, equestrian, athletics and weightlifting.
In a statement to SANA, a member of the Executive Office, Dr. Marwan Doueir, praised the important achievement made by our athletes in various games, pointing out the need to continue the effort and training to achieve more successes in the upcoming benefits.
In turn, a member of the Executive Office, Muhammad al-Khidr, praised the technical and training cadres, which had an important role in the achievement, in addition to the players who raised the flag of Syria high and were the best ambassadors for Syrian sports.
The head of the Boxing Federation, Kamel Shabib, spoke about the gold medal of the champion Ahmed Ghosoun, describing this achievement as important and promising to achieve more in the upcoming matches.
The gold medalist, weighing 75 kg, explained that this medal did not come from a vacuum, but rather came as a result of continuous training, fatigue and support of the General Sports Federation through external camps and the provision of the necessary equipment to always remain fully prepared.
The owner of high jump silver, Majd Al-Din Ghazal, indicated that his ambition was to maintain the intermediate title in the previous version, but the injury he suffered resulted in a silver after jumping 222 cm, indicating that the next eligibility will be in the World Championships in America and he will seek to be his number better and achieve a new achievement.
It is noteworthy that our delegation, which participated in the Mediterranean tournament in Oran, Algeria, achieved three golds through the equestrian team for teams, the jockey Ahmed Hamsho in the singles, the boxing Ahmed Ghosoun and the weightlifter Maan Asaad in the net, and three silvers through Majd Al-Din Ghazal in the high jump and the jockey Shadi Gharib in the singles jumping and Maan Asaad in kidnapping.
