There is a good atmosphere in the TSV 1860 training camp.

Not only the Löwen fans contribute to this, but also trainer Michael Köllner with pithy sayings.

Windischgarsten – It is a recurring chant that lulls the residents of Windischgarsten to sleep night after night.

The Giesinger Gassenhauer is smashed: "To the lions, to the lions - cheers!" Followed by the clinking of glasses.

The epicenter of the 1860 party is the Kemmetmüller, a centrally located inn opposite the Rössl, which usually blocks its guest rooms for arriving lion fans in the spring.

What the northern German community of Wacken represents for heavy metal fans, Windischgarsten in Upper Austria has been for the annexe of TSV 1860 since 2019: a Mecca that attracts the white-blue pilgrims, not only from Munich-Giesing, but also from Plattling and Regensburg , from Vierkirchen-Pasenbach.

There was only beer for the fans, who relabelled the town sign in their own way.

The narrow streets, the ice cream parlor, the other catering establishments - everything is firmly in white and blue hands.

Since Friday, there has been one lion fan for every tenth inhabitant of the 2,400-strong community in the Traunviertel.

They line the professional training sessions next to the Hotel Dilly, use the Pyhrn-Priel-Card for excursions: they celebrate themselves and their club in the evening with home-brewed Kemmet beer.

A few also went too far, igniting Pyros and rampaging, but the majority are peaceful - and happy.

And of course the fans are there when their club calls - like on Sunday.

After the obligatory group photo of a pride of lions in the morning, the equally obligatory fan evening was on the program in the evening.

In the Salettl by the golf course, hotelier Horst Dilly set up an all-you-can-eat buffet (35 euros per fan), plus there were autographs, selfies with the players – and a humorous lion trainer.

"We sent him home again." New storm signing Joseph Boyamba also caused a smile - by explaining why he had stood with the crowd of fans for the group photo: "Quite simply - because I'm a fan myself." For them By the way, professionals had zero alcohol levels.

The headline was delivered by the coach himself. "Köllner is turning off the beer tap," he joked.

Before the team evening on Wednesday, not even a nightcap is allowed, which used to be nothing reprehensible.

Some of the younger fans left on Sunday, many will stay until the end of the camp on Thursday.

They'll be back next year, because 1860 managing director Marc-Nicolai Pfeifer revealed: "Our contract with Windischgarsten runs until 2024." Not all residents will be happy about it, but the local inns and guesthouses will be.

Incidentally, Eintracht Frankfurt, the reigning Europa League winner, moves into the Hotel Dilly directly after the lions.

Time for new fan chants, other colors will dominate the small climatic health resort - but the fans of the third division team did well in the wet and happy rating.
