The Spanish player, ranked fourth in the world, Rafael Nadal, managed to reach the quarter-finals of the Wimbledon Championships in London, the third of the four grand slams held on grass courts.
The 35-year-old qualified after defeating Dutchman Van de Sandsschloop in the round of 16 in three sets, with details of 6-4, 6-2, 7-6 in two hours and 21 minutes.
In the next round, the two-time Wimbledon champion will meet American Taylor Fritz, who in turn defeated Australian Jason Kubler 6-3, 6-1, 6-4.
