Real Madrid finalizes the transfer of Luka Jovic to Fiorentina

The white club would not enter anything now and would keep 50% of the rights until 2024 for the Serbian striker, who cost 63 million and has scored three goals in three seasons

63 million and three goals in three seasons.

This is how Luka Jovic (Bijeljina, Bosnia and Herzegovina; 24 years old) is about to close his way through Real Madrid, one of the biggest fiascoes in recent years taking into account that it appears as the eighth most expensive purchase in the history of the club.

In the absence of the agreement being made public, the striker leaves transferred to Fiorentina, which does not pay anything for him, but during the next two campaigns will share 50% of the player's rights with the white entity, according to official sources of the Bernabeu.

Now in the Castellana they do not put anything in the box for the attacker, but, in case of sale or entry for another operation until 2024, they would receive half of the total.

After weeks of conversations with the Italian team, this is the formula found to release a player whose market price has not stopped collapsing since he arrived at the Bernabéu in 2019. His departure was one of the issues to be addressed this summer .

In the days before the end of the course, there were hopes in the offices of finding a solution (more than in the case of Mariano) and, finally, he found it in alliance with the

viola

ensemble , a classic of Serie A who finished in seventh position in the last league.

Jovic was part of the huge investment (355 million) made by Madrid three seasons ago to alleviate the enormous offensive sinkhole left 12 months earlier by the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo.

His endorsement was the 27 goals scored in 2018/19 with Eintracht.

An area forward, a finisher with a profile that, on paper, could complement the characteristics of Karim Benzema.

But that idea did not go beyond the paper.

The cold and imperturbable character with which he was always deployed in the white team -also in the day-to-day life of Valdebebas, comment those who saw him train- translated into a glacial, frozen, invisible football.

Of the three goals with which he left Chamartín, two were on 19/20 in separate goals: the fifth against Leganés (5-0) and the fourth against Osasuna (1-4).

His only spark came last December at Anoeta (0-2), when he replaced Benzema due to injury and scored a goal and an assist.

Nothing more, that's where it all started and ended.

February swallowed it

At the beginning of the course, Carlo Ancelotti did not miss the opportunity to praise him as soon as the opportunity presented itself, aware that behind the non-negotiable

nine

French was going to need someone else to lend a hand.

The other alternative was Mariano.

However, Jovic's signs of life were definitively exhausted without reaching Christmas, that winter night in San Sebastián.

In the last four months of competition, he only played 75 minutes in two already inconsequential league games (at the Metropolitano and at home against Levante) and there was no trace of him in the European qualifiers.

In February, at a delicate moment due to Benzema's physical problems and the defeats in Paris (first leg of the Champions League round of 16) and Bilbao (elimination in the Cup quarterfinals), the emergency resources were Isco and Asensio from

false

nine, and even Gareth Bale.

Jovic, absent.

The public affection provided by Carletto did not prevent the outcome from being the same as with the coldness of Zinedine Zidane.

His benefits were just as insignificant with one as with another.

He was already close to leaving at the beginning of his second season.

Everything was between him and Borja Mayoral, and the one who left was the youth squad.

However, his decline continued and in the winter transfer window he returned on loan to Eintracht in an attempt to revive a career that had already accumulated many months of emptiness.

But the place where he had been happy did not make him poor either.

Madrid returns to training this Friday and Luka Jovic will no longer be there.

Regarding the closed season in Paris with the Champions League title, Isco, Marcelo and Bale do not continue either, in their case due to contract termination.

In exchange, Antonio Rudiger (after ending Chelsea) and Aurélien Tchouameni arrived, with a fixed cost of 80 million.
