The E-Juniors of SV Bad Tölz are in the district finals.

Unterhaching President Manfred Schwabl then made a surprising offer to the club.

Bad Tölz - It was a long and, above all, very hot football day, which took place on Sunday on the sports grounds of SV Bad Tölz with the district final D of the Merkur CUP 2022.

And in the end (almost) everyone was satisfied.

"I'm very happy that our boys won," says Manni Schwabl, President of SpVgg Unterhaching and permanent patron of the Merkur CUP since 2017 after his E-Juniors won the Tölz tournament.

"A super great event with great fairness," says Jürgen Hitz, the sales manager of Energie Südbayern (ESB), whose company, as premium sponsor, had donated the set of jerseys for the fairest team of the tournament, FSV Harthof Munich.

"A huge compliment to all the players who held out for almost ten hours in the heat," said Torsten Horn, technical director of the Merkur CUP and game director in Tölzer.

"The Merkur CUP and the SV Bad Tölz - they just go together," says SV youth leader Thomas Wilka once again as an absolute fan of the world's largest tournament for E-Junior teams.

"It was the expected result.

I'm very proud of my team, it's really a great team, said Enrico Machka, the host's E-Junior coach.

They only had to admit defeat to FC Lengdorf 5:6 in the game for fifth place after a penalty shoot-out.

It was a 2-2 draw after regulation time.

Both teams declared in unison that just reaching the district finals was a huge success for them.

The people of Lengdorf had arrived with a large tour bus and a correspondingly large number of fans and cheered on their troops accordingly.

According to the regulations, three eight meters were shot by each team.

"My goalkeeper Victoria Totsche even came close twice," reported Machka.

However, she had not been able to prevent the impacts.

Then came the unlucky Freddy Wimmer for SV.

He aimed a little too accurately, hitting the bottom of the bar and the ball bounced back into the field from there.

So Tölz was sixth and the people of Lengdorf were celebrating.

The Tölzers had finished the preliminary round in third place after only being successful against MTV Berg 2:1 (0:0).

At the end, Thomas Wilka thanked all volunteers who had contributed to the success of the tournament.

And SpVgg President Manni Schwabl promised the astounded Tölzern: "After both clubs will be 100 years old in 2025, we could play an anniversary game together." (Ewald Scheitterer)
