Tal Ben-Haim, who left Maccabi Tel Aviv after a second term at the club, claims in an interview with the podium "The Podium" that "I will not let the way they parted from me tarnish all the beautiful period and all the beautiful memories" in the team.
He said the club could have said goodbye to him "in a more dignified manner", adding: "But it is already their business. And when I say theirs, it is one person. The only one who is supposed to do it and did not do it, is just Barak Yitzhaki."
The 32-year-old midfielder / striker signed for Maccabi Petah Tikva this weekend, the team he previously played for, after leaving Maccabi Tel Aviv this summer, which informed him that he was not in its professional plans.
Ben Haim played four seasons for Maccabi Tel Aviv before leaving for Sparta Prague (for 2.9 million euros), and then came to two more years (in which he scored eight goals and cooked four in 74 appearances in all competitions).
Throughout his career, he has won two championships and two state cups with Maccabi Tel Aviv.
"I will always remember only good from Maccabi Tel Aviv," said Ben Haim, "99.9 percent of the club, I love them very much and they are me, and we had only good. Wise to fill myself with these energies, both going forward for the rest of my life, and also not fair about all the really beautiful time I had there.
"To tell you that they could have said goodbye to me in a slightly more dignified way? They could. But it's their business. And when I say theirs, it's one person. Other, because he really was the only one who was supposed to do it. And he did not do it. It's his choice. It's his business. Because of what he chose, and if he treated me not the most honorable and beautiful - I will not fill myself with these energies. "I'm in a different place, and in addition, it's not fair for all my beautiful time at Maccabi, and all my memories ... what was it?
Ben Haim added that "apart from a break-in and Juvanovic - I have the most goals in Maccabi Tel Aviv in the league, and I barely played. It was not my good season, but in the minutes I played I gave goals. And beyond the numbers - in every game I played I gave everything and wanted to win."
Regarding his decision, he said: "The common assumption for Maccabi Tel Aviv - and you could say that somewhere it is a bit justified - is that a player who ends a contract will wait as long as necessary.
And there are players too who do that.
Some players signed at the last minute only after receiving three or four 'no' from Maccabi Tel Aviv.
So I said I would not put myself in this place. "
