We ticked off: Today's summary clip, 5.7 (Sports 1)

Very exciting moments passed for striker Dor Jan this past weekend.

Jan returned to the Portuguese Passos Pereira after a nightmarish season, which included a serious injury from a tear in the cruciate ligament in his knee, long months of pain and a tedious rehabilitation procedure, while he also experienced relegation with Maccabi Petah Tikva even though he was not an active partner.

Last Saturday he was a partner in a training match of his Portuguese team and even scored a goal that made him very happy.

"It was a training match against a team from the province of Passos, the first training match of the season," Jan told Walla!

sport.

"We were divided into two teams, each team played half. I came in the second half with 10 other players most of whom I do not know and it all starts from the beginning. I see it as something positive, I open a new page, start from scratch and now want to make a good first impression. For the game the script was already in my head, I knew I would go into play after almost 11 months of not playing, I also knew I would score and I really felt it in my body even before the game, and then it really happened. I did not play football for a long time, To grass and do what I love. "

Jan, who was loaned last season to Maccabi Petah Tikva, which was relegated to the national team, has now automatically returned to Portuguese side Passos, where he has a contract for another season and started pre-season training with his old-new friends.

"I waited for it for a long time, I started the training here with Passos and probably even before the training there were a lot of tests, a lot of tests and of course mine did more tests because they wanted to see the knee condition after the injury."

"Last week, even before the team's first training session, I was sent for a series of special tests at Porto Stadium, they have a special compound there and in addition I also underwent another MRI at a private hospital here in the area, so the club's doctor can make sure the knee is in good condition. "I can already start training, but they did not want to take any risk. They understood that everything is fine at the moment and that I can start training with the team, but obviously I have another way to do to strengthen the leg."

Until when do you have a contract in Passos?

What are the plans for the upcoming season?

"I have a contract here until the end of this season. A new coach came to the team, I did not know him last season, lots of new players joined and it kind of started from scratch for me. Anyway I knew I was coming to the beginning of the season in Portugal as a regular player. "I'm in good shape for this season. I do not want to get any discounts now. On the contrary, I work harder than all the players to show that I want more and that I am hungrier than everyone else. I also have my own plan and extras that I do with my fitness coach."

"I do not really know what will happen to me this season, I have a contract here, but this is the last year of a contract and we know how things work. This is a situation from which you can go for a separation of powers or a contract extension, everything is open at the moment. "The coach and the club are examining the situation. I do not know what will happen in two or three weeks, but I believe I will soon know where I am going."

Will stay in Portugal?

Is returning to Israel possible?

There are many Israeli groups looking for pioneers.

"Right now I'm here and Idan (Ben Abu, Rabbi) and I'm not in touch with groups from the country either.

We put everything aside, in a kind of hold.

In the end, anything can happen.

All possibilities are really open.

At the moment I do not see a need to hurry, I am in an excellent league and I am not in a hurry to leave here and besides there are also options from other countries, not necessarily to return to Israel. "

Let's go back to your injury. How did it happen?

"It happened in training in mid-August, even before the league started. I only managed to play in the Toto Cup for half an hour and a week later I was injured in training. Two weeks later I was already operated on. In fact, I did not play for a whole season , Also to help Maccabi Petah Tikva, which was not an easy time, but of course I listened to my doctors so as not to take any risks. In the end, the decisions were made together with the doctor who operated on me, Dr. Dror Lindner, but he is of course the one who determines.

Around March I went back to training with the team, but these were not really full training sessions, with touch and everything.

I played joker in training, without touch.

It was practice but not really.

In mid-April I received permission from my doctor to start training with touch and full training and I was actually fit to return to play in the last two or three games of the season.

I assume that in Petah Tikva they may have preferred not to take a risk, also from an insurance-financial point of view.

How hard was this year?

"When you are in football, you probably know that your career is not long and when it is not long you do not want to miss even one day. Sometimes the injuries are part of the matter and there are injuries where you miss a week and sometimes more. Once I was informed of the severity of the injury "On the neck and the sky fell, but I believe that from the lowest places begins a long, difficult and tedious process and then you learn to appreciate the little things."

"When I was informed of the injury I was on the floor, literally, I was finished because I did not believe it was the severity of the injury, when it happened I felt nothing. After a few days of feeling loss and pain and a lot of crying and grief, you learn to live with it, accept the situation and say to yourself. ' Okay, it happened, how do you get out of here now and what do you do? ', I had an exact script of what I'm going to do and how. "In the same mind, so that I can go on this difficult journey with them. I also talked to a number of players who had suffered similar injuries, such as Gadi Kinda and Amit Bitton, but I did not delve into the injury with them, because everyone goes through the process differently."

Did you work on the mental side this season as well?

"Obviously. For the last four years I have been working with a close mentalist, Eli Cohen, who works with me. We are in weekly contact and from the moment I was injured and actually crashed, the frequency of meetings increased twice a week and he helped me out of very great darkness I was in. He helped me re-believe myself. "I was very optimistic from the start after I was injured and accepted everything with love. Eli helped me climb from a deep bottom back up. I learned a lot about myself and how to deal with similar situations."

Finally, do you not feel a kind of miss on your career until now?

The feeling is that a talented player like you, should have been in higher places

"I can understand where the question comes from. If you were to ask me as a child where I would be at 28, then I would hope to get where I came from. Things kept going. At first it was a little harder and since I got to Bnei Yehuda at 23 things have started to stabilize. Who I am today. Of course things could have been different. A year ago on this date and also two years ago, I had an offer from Maccabi Haifa. They really wanted me to come, but my dream told me to go abroad.

I went abroad as I wanted and last summer there was interest again from Maccabi Haifa, there were talks but I preferred to stay in Portugal. Then a new coach arrived who brought players in my position and things changed. And Ben Shehar so the option there closed. There are sometimes the thoughts that maybe if I had said yes to them, two weeks earlier, then maybe I would have been somewhere else, but I really believe that everything is going well and I am now aiming for high places again.

I'm in a league that can open a door for me to a lot of good things.

Players leave Portugal for the English and Spanish and German leagues, so I really really appreciate where I am.

Everything will happen in time, Israel will always be in the background.

I can say with certainty that I did not say the last word on the pitch.

I recovered well from the injury and I am sure there will be more records in the future. "
