The eventing horse Allstar B, who had an accident at the CHIO in Aachen, is dead.
Aachen - The equestrian sport has once again to mourn a death.
At the CHIO in Aachen, the world champion horse Allstar B of the British horse Rosalind Canter was injured so badly that he had to be put down - "on the advice of a veterinarian", according to an official statement.
Allstar B was unlucky enough to hit an obstacle with his left front leg while cross-country in eventing and was then unable to perform again.
The world champion horse, which had not even fallen, was then immediately taken to an animal clinic, but there was no help there.
Even an operation could not have saved the horse.
His British rider Rosalind Canter and co-owner Caroline Moore decided on Saturday (July 2nd) to have the 17-year-old stallion put down.

"There are no words for the love and respect I have for Alby," said Canter in a CHIO announcement.
"He played a big role in building my career and will be missed by many."
The equestrian sport is always under criticism.
Also at the Olympic Games in Tokyo, a horse was seriously injured during the cross-country ride and had to be put to sleep in the hospital.
The appearance of Annika Schleu in the modern pentathlon also caused a stir at the time.
The German athlete had big problems with the horse Saint Boy that was drawn to her, whereupon she hit the horse several times with her crop on the advice of national coach Kim Raisner.
Allegations of animal cruelty, also in equestrian sports in general, quickly became loud.
