The NBA has seen quite a few players with tremendous potential in the past who were selected first in the draft and then lost themselves when they did not live up to expectations.
Tonight (Tuesday through Wednesday) Chet Holmgren, who was selected just a few days ago in the second pick by Oklahoma City, provided a tremendous debut that gave U.S. commentators quite a bit of hope ahead of his rookie season in the best league in the world.
During the Thunder's 77-98 victory over Utah in the summer league, Holmgren recorded 23 minutes in which he demonstrated impressive ability, scoring 23 points (7 of 9 from the field, 4 of 6 from three), adding 7 rebounds, handing out 4 assists and also contributing 6 blockages.
The league commentators who watched the game, of course, were very impressed with Holmgren and praised him, as well as his ability to deal with Taco Paul, the jazz player who rises to a height of 2.23 cm.
