OGC Nice has formalized the departure of Julien Fournier because of disputes with management. He was until then the strong man of the transfer windows

His departure was expected, it is now official.

Arriving at the club in 2011, Julien Fournier left OGC Nice due to "strategic differences" with management.

The president of the club, Jean-Pierre Rivère, had however announced at the end of June the maintenance of the director of football until the end of the transfer window.

Julien Fournier himself would have decided to leave the club earlier than expected, according to our colleagues from Nice-Matin.

While he previously had control of the transfer windows of OGC Nice, the club had decided to take a new direction.

“Julien Fournier will not be alone in recruiting, we will work together.

We have expanded things in a process that we are in the process of setting up with Ineos ”, assured Jean-Pierre Rivère during the presentation of the new coach Lucien Favre.

Ineos wants to change things

The departure of Julien Fournier coincides with the new place taken by the INEOS group, of which OGC Nice is a part.

Ineos director of sport Dave Brailsford has been omnipresent at the club in recent weeks.

The Welshman conducted an internal audit, with a view to restructuring the organization and the organization chart of the Gym.

"I don't know football, but I know how to win," he told the JDD in June.

The Briton Iain Moody will already land at OGC Nice as an external consultant.

The Fournier-Rivère duo therefore separates.

Arrived at the club at the same time as Jean-Pierre Rivère in 2011, Julien Fournier held the position of general manager until 2019. He then took on the role of director of football after the arrival of INEOS three years ago.

While OGC Nice finished 17th in the League in 2011, the club finished at the top of the rankings eight times during Julien Fournier's spell.
