The FFR and the League have delivered the details of the agreement which defines the stages of the long preparation for the 2023 World Cup.


Last week, the FFR (which governs the XV of France) and the LNR (in charge of professional rugby) signed an agreement binding them until the 2027 World Cup in Australia.

Fabien Galthié, who has been reappointed as coach until this date, has obtained to continue to have 42 players during his training courses over the next five years.

This agreement also governs the program that awaits the Blues next summer, more than two months of preparation before the start of the World Cup, on September 7, 2023, with a sumptuous opening clash between the XV of France and the All Blacks at the Stade de France.

42 players will be made available for the many training courses that will punctuate the preparation, scheduled from June 25 to August 28, 2023. This will begin with a commando course within the Foreign Legion regiment based in Cayenne, French Guiana, from June 25 to August 28, 2023. June 30 inclusive.

A few days of rest on the way back and another internship, this time in Monaco, until July 16th.

The rest of the preparation will take place in a place that has not yet been designated, probably at the CNR of Marcoussis.

The compensation of professional clubs at the expense of the LNR

The Blues will play four preparation matches.

Twice against Scotland (weekend of August 5 and 12), then against Fiji (weekend of August 10) and Australia (weekend of August 26).

The group of players selected for the World Cup will be reduced from 42 to 33 players on August 28, 2023. In the meantime, the first three days of the Top 14 will have taken place, for which a minimum of nine players (14 maximum) will be awarded. available to their club.
