Summer means winter preparation for biathletes like Franzi Preuss, but she has now been put out of action and is relaxing on Sylt.

Sylt - After the season is before the season, what sounds like a hackneyed saying is unfortunately the truth for top athletes.

Of course, in winter sports, the summer is also used for holidays or weddings, as Ricco Groß's son proved, but there is also hard training.

Alpine skiers race over glaciers, biathletes are out and about on roller skis - there's a lot going on in the hot season.

For an athlete, however, things didn't go as planned, so she took a break.

Franzi Preuss showed her fans a selfie from the beach in Sylt.

One looks enviously at the beautiful panorama, but the background of the photo is a serious one.

There is a lot going on at Preuß in summer, a home is being built in Ruhpolding with friend and ex-biathlete Simon Schempp, at the same time she wants to find her top form for the winter sports season, but has to overcome a few hurdles.

Biathlete Franzi Preuß from Ruhpolding to Sylt to take a "forced break".

"Unfortunately, things have not been going well in terms of health and sport in the last few weeks," she begins her statement on Instagram.

While the fans look at a grinning biathlete, she probably hasn't felt like laughing much in the last few weeks.

“After I started light training again, the infection came back and gave me a real frontal sinus infection.

That's why I used the forced break to switch off for a few days at the North Sea," she keeps her followers up to date.

For Biatheltin Preuss "very relaxing"

Apparently Sylt was the right choice.

The North Sea island got a lot of media coverage because a big rush was expected after the €9 ticket started.

Punks even went to the sea in June and had a party there.

FDP politician Christian Lindner married his Franca there.

The extra portion of relaxation there was good for biathlete Preuss: “The break was particularly relaxing for my sinuses, my head and hopefully also for my immune system.

Do you have any experience with the North Sea climate?” she asks.

A few days later, Preuss was back on his bike.

The recovery on Sylt seems to have helped, now the focus is on the winter sports season - and maybe also building more houses.
