The US Palaiseau goalkeeper was the victim of racist insults during the French Cup second round penalty shootout last month

9 years ago, Montereau, a departmental club in the Seine-et-Marne district, was the hero of the 5th round of the Coupe de France by eliminating Saint-Ouen-l'Aumône (CFA 2, 5th division) at the end of the penalty shootout.

Change of scenery last month on the occasion of a meeting in the second round of the Coupe de France 2022-2023 against US Palaiseau.

Some supporters of AS Montereau Amicale uttered racist insults during the penalty shootout.

“The referee immediately stopped the game”

“There was 2-2 after extra time and we were about to start the session to decide between the two teams when around twenty young people aged 18 to 20 shouted at our dirty monkey doorman, go back to your cage, says Pierre Bourgeault , the vice-president of the US Palaiseau who was a delegate at this meeting.

The referee heard the racial slurs and immediately told both teams to return to the locker room.

About twenty minutes later, he asked us if we wanted to resume the game but it was impossible given the psychological state of our players.

The referee therefore signaled the end of the match.

The vice-president of Palaiseau continues: “It is unacceptable to make such comments.

Match lost and 200 euros fine for Montereau

Requested, the Montereau club remained unreachable.

The Disciplinary Committee of the Paris-Ile-de-France League estimated last week that Montereau had failed in its management of the security of the meeting and that the supporters should have been expelled.

The regional body thus gave the match lost as well as a fine of 200 euros and a ban on participating in the Coupe de France 2023-2024.

The ruling also includes two firm stadium suspension matches.

The Seine-et-Marnais club will have to play its next two matches in a stadium located outside the town of Montereau-Fault-Yonne.

Contacted, the Paris-Ile-de-France League replied “that it was not intended to comment on the decisions of the disciplinary committee.
