The champion of 22 majors, injured in the abdominal, exercises gently and rushes his options to face the Australian in the London semifinals

The day after achieving passage to the Wimbledon semifinals, Rafael Nadal trained at the All England Club with the aim of reaching this Friday's match with Australian Nick Kyrgios.

The 36-year-old Spaniard competed injured in the quarterfinal match against the American Taylor Fritz and left his presence in the penultimate round match up in the air.

However, Nadal will rush all his options and as this newspaper has been able to confirm, his will is to play.

“If he is still here, it is evident that it is because he wants to jump on the track”, they transmit from his team.

The night before, Nadal assured that he felt that "something is not right" and that he should "have all the information" to decide whether or not he was going to play against Kyrgios.

Specifically, the tennis player spoke of bad feelings and said he was "concerned", taking into account the "lashes" that he suffered in the area when serving.

Even so, the idea is that he proves himself again this Friday and that if he does not mediate a setback, he will face the Australian for a place in the final of the tournament, which he won in 2008 and 2010.

Nadal: "I'm worried, something is not right"

Nadal traveled this morning to the Wimbledon facilities and carried out a gentle training session with members of his team.

From the outset, the Spaniard had reserved Court 10 of the complex, open to the public, although he finally chose to exercise in the reserved area of Aorangi Park, away from the spotlight.

Only professionals, some employees of the English club and journalists can access this space.

The session was scheduled to start at 12:30, but in the end it was delayed by an hour.

The champion of 22 majors entered the training court through a private entrance, reserved exclusively for players, and hit the ball with one of his trainers, Marc López.

The session was also attended by his personal doctor, Ángel Ruiz-Cotorro, as well as the relatives who support him in London.

After exchanging a few balls at a slow pace he left through the same door and returned to the house that he has rented for the English stay, located just a ten minute walk from the club.

Nadal told after beating Fritz that he has been dragging the ailment for a week.

He managed to control her in the first four matches, but when only six games had elapsed in the duel against the American, he made a first gesture that he repeated several times in the subsequent development.

The Balearic managed to come back in five sets, but his presence in the penultimate round was unknown.

The exam confirmed the injury, but he has decided to take advantage of all his options to try to win his third trophy in London.

It is not the first time that Nadal has had a setback in the abdominal area.

In 2009 he already suffered a break during a match against Juan Martín del Potro in New York, and in 2018 and 2019 he had mishaps similar to his landing in Paris-Bercy, in November.
