Rafael Nadal's heroic and inspiring performance last night (Wednesday) in the quarterfinals at Wimbledon against American Taylor Fritz has provoked mostly admiration and appreciation, but there are those who claim he does not deserve it.
Fabio Ponini, known as the big mouth of the tennis world, even insists that in fact Nadal is not really injured.
As you may recall, Nadal struggled during the game with abdominal muscle pain that threatened to force him to retire from the tournament.
Rafa's father and sister even advised him to retire due to the pain, while he was receiving medical treatment.
Nadal even admitted at the end of the game, in which he won 6: 3, 5: 7, 6: 3, 5: 7, 6: 7 (4), that "I do not know if I will be eligible for the semifinals."

Shortly after the game ended yesterday, Ponini posted a post on Instagram with a screenshot of the victory report, highlighting the part in which Chandal was noted to have suffered an injury.
"Yes, sure. 4 hours and 20 minutes ... people, please stop believing everything you read!", Ponini wrote, alluding to the fact that Chandal fabricated the injury.
Fritz was asked at the end about the possibility that Sandal had not really played with an injury, and did not doubt for a moment the credibility of his opponent.
"I have no reason to think that there was a provocation or 'game' here on Rafa's part. I stood close to him, and I could see that he was in severe pain. It affected his refusal, it affected his mobility. There is no doubt about that," he said.
Even if Nadal qualifies for the semi-finals tomorrow (Friday) against the fiery Nick Kirius, the injury could hurt him more than the game against Fritz.
"Kirius will be Rafa's nightmare. Probably in his current state," explains Mats Willander.
"My assumption is that given the nature of Rafa's injury, he will not be able to properly prepare for the game. I also estimate that his movement will be limited. And who is the toughest opponent to meet in such a situation? Novak Djokovic, of course, but also Nick Kirius, one of the players "The most mobile and dynamic in the round. He is a great athlete, Healing will be very difficult to deal with, and he will be a clear underdog. A meeting with Kirius in the current situation, this is the worst news Sandal could have received."
