In preparation for the participation in the West Asian Championship that will be held in Jordan next September, the Karate Federation held the National Team Selection Championship at Al-Jalaa Sports Hall in Damascus, with the participation of a group of distinguished male and female players.

The first places in the under-16 category were achieved by Zain Al-Amatori in the individual kata competitions, Muhammad Al-Ahmad with a combination of weights of 40 and 45 kg, and Wissam Fixed with a weight of under 52 kg, and Hashem Al-Zoubi with a combination of weights under 57, 63 and 70.

In the under-18 category, the first places were won by Samir Qabbani with a combined weight of under 55 and under 61 kg, Mustafa Al Masalma with a weight of under 68 kg, Samer Khattab with a weight of under 76 kg and Ibrahim Saqr with a weight of over 76 kg.

The first places in the over 18-year-old category were Khaled Abu Alwan in the kata competitions, including the over-18 and under-18-year-olds, Muhammad Darwish, in the under-60 and 67-kg category, and Wissam Abu Mahmoud, at under-75 kg, and Majd Selkan, in the under-84 and over-84-kg category.

The first places in the female category under 16 years were achieved by Shaden Abu Hassoun in the individual kata competitions, Farah Al-Numan with a combined weight of under 42 and under 47 kg and Heba Suleiman with a weight of under 54 kg and in the category of under 18 years Dalaa Hamza with a weight of under 48 kg and Rahaf Ibrahim with a weight of under 53 kg And Batoul Salman, by merging my weight under 59 and above 59 kg, and in the category above 18 years old, I drew Brembo in the individual kata by merging the categories of under 18 and above 18 years, and Lotus Cotton by merging my weight under 50 and 55 kg, and Kholoud Al-Ali by combining my weight under 61 and above 68 kg.

In a statement to SANA, the head of the Karate Federation, Jihad Mia, confirmed that the players were invited to the tests based on the results of the physical and technical tests and the results of the previous republic championships.

Mia indicated that the results of the experiments that were held according to the league system from one stage and the opinion of the technical staff and the national teams committee determine the names of the players and players who will form the nucleus of the team, provided that a study is submitted to the executive office on the necessity of our participation and presence in the tournament and based on the expected approval, the number of players will be determined The participants and their weights, pointing out that the task is not easy, but the ambition is always in each participation is to achieve the first places and ascend the podiums.

Distinguished players from different governorates from the age groups under 16, 18 and over 18, who have obtained the best results in the republic, club and elite championships, participated in the experiments, noting that the West Asian Championship includes the teams of the Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Palestine, Lebanon, Yemen, Oman, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain and Jordan, in addition to Syria.
