The DFB team managed a deserved win against Denmark in the first European Championship game and put an exclamation point in the direction of the co-favourites.

Martina Voss-Tecklenburg's team made it clear from the start that they wanted to win this game and bought the Danes' guts.

The Scandinavians weren't completely without a chance, but especially in the second half they could hardly put a pinprick.

Even after the game, the great team spirit among the German players was evident.

The speech by the trainer also made it clear what the demands of this team are.

"Someone has to beat us first," said Voss-Tecklenburg, clearly audible over the TV microphones.

And the football god also proved with Alexandra Popp's goal that he is a Germany fan at least today.

Lineup Germany

Frohms - Gwinn, Hendrich, Hegering, Rauch - Oberdorf, Däbritz (61st Brand), Magull (69th Dallmann) - Huth, Schüller (61st Popp), Bühl (61st Lattwein)

Lineup Denmark

Christensen - Sevecke, Ballisager, Veje - Svava (70th Boye), Troelsgaard (55th Gejl), Pedersen, Thomsen - Bruun (55th Nadim), Harder, Madsen (55th Kühl)

Gates

1: 0 Magull (29 min), 2: 0 Schüller (57 min), 3: 0 Lattwein (79 min), 4: 0 Popp (86 min)

90. + 5 minutes: The game is over!

The team from Voss-Tecklenburg also deservedly won 4-0 against Denmark.

90th + 5 minutes:

yellow-red for Denmark.

Kathrine Kühl commits a tactical foul on Popp.

Since she had already seen yellow, there is logically the dismissal.

90th + 3 minutes:

There is another small turmoil in the Danish penalty area.

After Huth's free-kick, the Danish team struggled to clear the ball but eventually got the situation under control.

90 minutes:

The game is coming to an end and the German fans are in a celebratory mood.

"Oh how beautiful that is" is chanted in the wide circle of Brentford.

Popp in the EM debut right away with the goal

86 minutes: TOOOOOOOR for Germany!

Now this game also writes such a wonderful story.

Lohmann, who has just come on as a substitute, is played perfectly on the left in the penalty area.

Alexandra Popp finds her chip ball in the middle and heads in with a diving header worth seeing to make it 4:0.

First EM use, first goal for the experienced Popp.

84 minutes:

Both teams change again: Lohmann comes for Oberdorf for Germany, Larsen for Thomsen for Denmark.

82 minutes:

The DFB team also deservedly lead 3-0 in terms of height.

The Danes, on the other hand, have now lost all hope.

Jokerin Lattwein with the 3:0 for Germany

79 minutes: GOOOOO.

But now the 3:0!

After a free kick from the half field, Lattwein gets the ball free on the left in front of the goal and deliberately pushes it into the short corner.

Oberdorf, who served the goal scorer with a head with a lot of overview, deserves special praise.

74 minutes:

Goal for Germany?

The flag is up.

And in fact, Jule Brand is extremely offside.

70 minutes:

And Denmark changes again: Boye for Svava.

69 minutes:

Dallmann comes on for the scorer of the 1-0, Lina Magull.

69 minutes:

The Danish keeper Christensen's sovereign area is under fire again after a corner.

The DFB team does that well too.

They block the six-yard space consistently at every corner.

65 minutes:

It is Alexandra Popp's first European Championship appearance, who has missed every European Championship due to injuries.

61 minutes:

Germany is now also changing.

Brand, Lattwein and Popp will replace Bühl, Däbritz and Schüller.

60 minutes:

Now it's going to be very difficult for Denmark, who have just changed so offensively.

Schüller heads in after a corner kick to make it 2-0

57 minutes: GOOOOOR.

After the Danish keeper was able to clear a Magull shot to the corner, the doorbell rang.

The corner kick finds the head of Lea Schüller, who heads into the orphaned goal.

The Danish keeper looks really bad here.

55 minutes:

Denmark makes a change: Gejl, Kühl and Nadim come.

Madsen, Troelsgaard and Bruun.

Full offensive by the Danes.

54 minutes:

A cross from the right sails into the German penalty area, but can be successfully cleared after an initial uncertainty.

51st minute:

It feels like the first time that there is no goal to be seen over a period of five minutes.

Germany but still with field superiority.

46 minutes:

Less than a minute's play and Germany appear dangerously in the Danish penalty area again.

But this time on the left side.

But Bühl's cross got stuck on a Danish leg.

46 minutes:

The second half is unchanged on both sides.

Break:

The German team deservedly lead 1-0 against the Danes.

Svenja Huth in particular puts a lot of pressure on her right side and can hardly be controlled.

But the Voss-Tecklenburg team must remain on their guard.

The Danish team keeps trying to surprise the German defense with quick counterattacks.

Schüller misses the chance to make it 2-0

45. + 1 minute:

Schüller is sent long and runs slightly under pressure towards the Danish goal, but cannot get past the goalkeeper.

There would have been more.

45 minutes:

Denmark fights for the ball in its own half and wants to switch quickly.

The DFB-Elf is awake and defends the counter-attack confidently.

39 minutes:

Bühl gets the ball on the edge of the penalty area. The powerful shot just whizzes over the bar.

38 minutes:

After a short break in treatment, the game continues.

Away from the ball, Pedersen and Däbritz rattled each other.

Denmark tried, but too imprecise

34 minutes:

Denmark tries again from a distance.

But a shot from the right corner of the penalty area is no problem for the DFB keeper Frohms.

29 minutes:

Frohms is forced to make a first save.

Bruun with a dropkick from outside the box, but Frohms saves the ball well.

There was a lot of oomph behind it.

26 minutes:

Germany is not resting.

Schüller now on the right in the sixteen.

A defender can just clear the low cross to a corner.

Magull in the kink: Germany leads 1-0

21 minutes: GOOOOO for Germany.

Lina Magull puts pressure on the Danish central defender Pedersen and snatches the ball. She nails the ball high into the short right corner just in front of the goal.

18 minutes:

Great chance Germany: again it's the lively Huth who brings the cross from the right.

She finds Däbritz, who finishes with a side puller, which is worth seeing.

The Danish goalkeeper can scrape the ball out of the right corner.

Twice the bar for the DFB-Elf: Rauch and Magull only hit aluminum

13 minutes:

Latte again!

Again the chance arises on the right.

Huth's flank is blocked and smoke falls at his feet.

Their conclusion from a distance finds the crossbar, Schüller is offside when the shot is taken.

10 minutes:

What a hammer from Magull!

After the ball is placed across from the right in front of the penalty area, the left-back takes aim and slams the ball onto the crossbar.

8 minutes:

It goes on merrily: this time a degree from Denmark.

But just as harmless as Bühl's chance before

7 minutes:

Denmark free-kick from the half-field.

Germany can clarify after a ricochet.

5 minutes:

First degree from Germany.

Huth steals the ball from Katrine Veje on the right and finds Bühl in the middle.

But their header is a bit too imprecise and flies over the crossbar.

4 minutes:

After Denmark initially acts in the German half, Germany comes through Svenja Huth right to the baseline.

The flank only finds the arms of the Danish keeper.

1st minute:

The ball is running.

After the entire DFB team has committed themselves to the game in a circle, Lina Magull toasts.

Update at 8:57 p.m.: The teams are on the pitch and the national anthems are playing, even if many fans have not yet taken their seats.

Many fans have probably made their way too late.

#KeinFrauenfussball from sponsor VW makes headlines

Update at 8:50 p.m.:

In the run-up to the game, the sponsor of the DFB team and the World Cup VW is launching the #NoWomen’s Soccer advertising campaign.

Behind this provocative hashtag is the slogan "Women play soccer, not #womensoccer".

The campaign is supported by Alexandra Popp, among others.

Update at 8:35 p.m.:

The Danes are led by Pernille Harder.

In 2020, the striker was the first foreign player to be named "Germany's Footballer of the Year".

Above all, the Wolves in the squad of the DFB-Elf should be particularly motivated against their former teammate.

Update at 8:25 p.m .:

Coach Martina Voss-Tecklenburg sees no reason to change the starting lineup for the successful test against Switzerland.

Asked about letting Alexandra Popp out, she doesn't see a leader problem in the eleven: "There are other leaders on the field too" and Alexandra Popp will probably still get minutes of the game today.

"Poppi will be there when we need her," said the national coach.

DFB team: Captain Alexandra Popp on the bench

Update at 8:05 p.m .:

The line-ups of the two teams are there and Klara Bühl from FC Bayern is in the starting line-up.

Captain Alexandra Popp, on the other hand, is not in the starting XI.

The DFB team will be led onto the pitch today by Sturm colleague Svenja Huth.

Svenja Huth still leads the German national team onto the field as captain.

Update at 8:00 p.m.:

In the game between Germany's two group opponents between Spain and Finland, the Spanish favorites managed to win 4:1.

The Finns couldn't bring their lightning lead after 50 seconds despite a big fight.

First report from July 8th:

London – The German women's national team meets Denmark in their first game in Group B at the European Championships in England.

Kick-off is at 9pm at Brentford Community Stadium in west London.

Even if the Danes are certainly not to be called casual customers, the players of Martina Voss-Tecklenburg are definitely favorites among the bookmakers.

The trainer can rely on a strong Wolfsburg block.

A total of ten players are currently under contract with VfL, six players come from the FC Bayern team.

The captain and experienced striker Alexandra Popp also plays for Lower Saxony.

Together with Sara Däbritz (Olympique Lyon) in midfield and defenders Marina Hegering and Kathrin Hendrich (both VfL Wolfsburg), she should form an important axis.

DFB team: Dress rehearsal against Switzerland ended in Schützenfest

The German team was more than successful in the last game before the European Championship.

In Erfurt, a 7-0 Schützenfest succeeded against the selection from Switzerland.

Triple goal scorer Klara Bühl from FC Bayern was able to advertise herself and rightly hopes for a starting place in the game against Denmark.

A win against Denmark would also be so important because the Spanish selection is one of the top favorites in the German team's group.

The Spaniards - in the first game they meet Finland - are currently considered one of the best teams in women's football.

Even if their star player Alexia Putellas tore her cruciate ligament during training on Tuesday.
