In a post on social media, 22-year-old Canadian swimmer Mary-Sophie Harvey claimed she did not remember six hours from the last night of the competition • "I woke up completely lost" • She further shared that she suffered a concussion and a rib fracture

Canadian swimmer Mary-Sophie Harvey claimed on social media that she was drugged on the last night of the world championships that ended about two weeks ago, during which she suffered a concussion and a rib fracture.

The 22-year-old Harvey, who won a bronze medal with teammates in the Tokyo Olympics mission ointment, said she woke up "completely lost" with the team manager and her doctor by her side, with no trace of a four- to six-hour time window.

"On the last night of the world championships, I was drugged," said the swimmer.

"I remember celebrating the end of my competition consciously and consciously for my next destination - the Commonwealth Games. But since then I have not remembered anything."

She discovered "dozens of bruises" on her body after she drove home, saying she had to share her experience as "these situations happen unfortunately too many times. I'm still scared to think about that night's unknown," she wrote.

Harvey added: "I'm still in a sense ashamed of what happened, and I think I always will be ... but I will not let this incident bring me down."

Meanwhile, the International Swimming Federation (FINA) is expected to investigate the incident.

"We are aware of the disturbing reports in the media regarding Mary-Sophie Harvey and are very concerned about her well-being," the reporters' inquiries on the subject went on to say.

"We are in touch with the Canadian Swimming Association and the local organizing committee. In 2021, FINA has adopted extensive measures aimed at protecting athletes and an independent investigating officer will be appointed to investigate the issue."
