After his acquittal in the trial for a dubious payment of millions, former UEFA President Michel Platini wants to strike back.

Bellinzona - "In this terrible case there are culprits who have not appeared in this process.

I guarantee you: we will meet again," said the former head of the European Football Union in a statement distributed by his lawyer.

The 67-year-old was quoted as saying that he "will not let go and go to the end in search of the truth".

The Swiss Federal Criminal Court had previously acquitted Platini and former FIFA President Joseph Blatter of fraud and other crimes.

"I've said it again and again: My fight is a fight against injustice.

I won a first game," said Platini.

He was pleased "that after seven years of lies and manipulation, justice finally prevailed".

In the trial in Bellinzona, the truth came to light, the Frenchman assured.

The proceedings involved a payment of two million Swiss francs (today around 2.02 million euros) from the coffers of the world association FIFA to Platini.

The Swiss Attorney General saw no legal basis for the payment.

She brought charges against Blatter and Platini, demanding a year and eight months in prison for each of them.

According to the two defendants, the transfer of millions in 2011 was an additional payment for Platini's consulting work.
