After teams like Miami and Phoenix were mentioned as candidates to take on Kevin Durant, the United States reported tonight (Friday) that Brooklyn offered Minnesota a huge trade for the player, in which it demanded no less than Carl Anthony Towns, Anthony Edwards and four other draft picks.
Towns, who signed a new Max contract with the Timberwolves this summer, and Edwards are the two stars of the team, who have not really seriously considered agreeing to such a trade, not even for Durant, who suffered some serious injuries in his career and flew with Brooklyn already in the playoffs against Boston last season.
REPORT: The Brooklyn Nets asked the Minnesota Timberwolves for Karl-Anthony Towns, Anthony Edwards, and 4 draft-picks in exchange for Kevin Durant.
The Timberwolves declined.

As you may recall, Minnesota, which experienced a great season last year and advanced to the Western Conference playoffs, has added Rudy Gober, Utah's excellent defensive chin in recent years who along with Towns will complete what appears to be the strongest front line in the league.
Towns and Edwards were the two best Minnesota players in the playoffs, in which the team was eliminated by Memphis by six.
Edwards led with 25.2 points per game and 4.2 rebounds.
Towns finished with 21.8 points and nearly 11 rebounds.
The Timberwolves have DiAngelo Russell in the back line and along with Gover, the team can go very far next season, some predicting until the later stages of the playoffs.
