Julimar Rojas, of Venezuela, has set the required criterion with non-standard shoes • The governing body has decided to punish her, but will allow her to compete in the triple jump - in which she holds the world record

big disappointment.

World champion and triple-jump Olympic champion Julimar Rojas will not be able to compete in the long jump at the Oregon World Championships this week, because the jump in which she set the criterion was made in non-standard shoes.

The governing body of the world athletics announced that in Rojas' jump in Spain in June - which was long enough to qualify for the championship - "no valid result was achieved, as she wore triple jump shoes that are not approved in the long jump competition".

According to the strict rules, a sole up to 25 mm thick will be used in shoes for triple jump, but only up to 20 mm for long jump.

Despite hitting the qualification standard for the World Championships in the women's Long Jump with a National Record (NR) of 6.93m, Yulimar Rojas 🇻🇪 was deemed ineligible for the event in Eugene!

"We know it's disappointing for Ms. Rojas and her many fans," the world athletics said, "but we expect to see Mrs Rojas competing in the triple jump."

The 26-year-old from Venezuela will come to defend her title in a triple jump, with the goal of winning it for the third time in a row and we may see her break the world record, having done so twice in the past year.

Rojas set a record in an open stadium with 15.67 meters at the Tokyo Olympics last August and jumped to March 15.74 in Belgrade, at the World Indoor Championships.
