Hapoel Jerusalem is close to a second reinforcement player ahead of the 2022/23 season.
American coordinator Speedy Smith, who played for Maccabi Haifa during the 2019/20 season and last season starred in the Ritas Vilna uniform, is on the verge of signing in the red uniform and is expected to join Noam Dovrat in the Reds' back line.
Smith (29, 1.91) has been a graduate of Louisiana Tech University since 2015. His professional career at VEF Riga, but was immediately released and finished the season in the Los Angeles Defenders uniform in the Development League, where he also played the following season.
Smith continued for another two years in the Development League in a Grand Rapids Drive uniform.
He left for Europe for the first time in the summer of 2019, signed with Hungarian Shulonok, and during the season moved to Charleroi, Belgium, was one of the standouts in the team, but the season ended due to the Corona.
In June 2020, he strengthened Maccabi Haifa for two months, scoring 15 points and 7.7 assists in six games.
His progress was more significant afterwards.
