Leclerc gave the lesson

The Monegasque was hungry.

Dominated in qualifying and then in the sprint race, Charles Leclerc took his revenge on Sunday by winning the Austrian Grand Prix ahead of his rival for the season Max Verstappen.

Better still, on three occasions, he offered the Dutchman, regularly and in front of his fans.

Problems with his accelerator pedal at the end of the race did not disturb him further and on arrival, he offered himself a third victory this season, the first since Melbourne.

But above all, he reduced the gap to 38 points in the championship with the Batavian.

In Spielberg, Leclerc sent quite a message to Verstappen.

Ocon, solid fifth

Forced to retire at Silverstone, Esteban Ocon reacted perfectly in Austria.

Sixth in the sprint on Saturday, the Frenchman finished fifth in the race on Sunday.

He collects ten valuable points for Alpine and this brings his total to 52 points in the championship after eleven races.

The Normand is very solid this season and this is confirmed race after race.

Interesting fifteen days from the Grand Prix de France.

Also worth noting is the fine comeback of Fernando Alonso, who started at the back of the grid and finished tenth.

Haas reaps

For the second time in a row, Haas placed both cars in the Top 10. At Spielberg, Mick Schumacher took a brilliant sixth place while Kevin Magnussen finished eighth.

With this performance, the American team now totals 34 points among the manufacturers and overtakes Alpha Tauri in seventh place.

flops

Red Bull heckled at home

The weekend had started rather well for Red Bull.

Verstappen's pole on Friday, the Batavian's victory in the sprint on Saturday, Sunday looked bright at home.

But in the race, Ferrari had the best pace by far.

Sergio Perez, out of the race very quickly, could not help his teammate, left alone against the two red single-seaters, and Max Verstappen was never in a condition to fight.

Passed three times by Leclerc in front of his fans, the Dutchman was not even annoyed or angry but just frustrated at not having been able to fight against the Ferrari driver.

Second at the finish, the world champion gives up six points to Leclerc, as at Silverstone.

Alpha Tauri without reaction

The weekends follow one another and look alike for the Italian brand.

For the third time in a row (Canada, Great Britain and Austria), Alpha Tauri did not score a point and slipped in the constructors' standings to eighth place.

The improvements do not arrive on the car and the white and blue single-seater sails at the back of the pack in terms of performance.

And when the drivers are in good position to score points, they hang on like at Silverstone.

Sunday, Yuki Tsunoda (16th) never existed while Pierre Gasly (15th) chained the penalties.

A first of five seconds for hitting Vettel and an identical second for having exceeded the track limits too many times.

Another Sunday to forget for Alpha Tauri.
