German medal hopes
Three years ago in Doha, Niklas Kaul became the youngest decathlon world champion in history.
The 24-year-old is also hoping for a medal in Eugene, but due to ongoing injury problems he is considered an outsider.
In complete contrast to Malaika Mihambo: The Olympic champion, world champion and European champion could be the first European to successfully defend the long jump title in the USA.
But with Brooke Buschkuehl (7.13 meters / Australia) and Tara Davies (7.03 meters / USA) two competitors are currently in top form.
Konstanze Klosterhalfen (5000 and 10,000 meters) and Gesa Felicitas Krause
(3000 meters obstacle) are always among the medal candidates from a German point of view, but this year it should be difficult.
Not only Klosterhalfen (Oregon), but also Gina Lückenkemper now trains in the USA (Florida).
The work seems to be paying off.
Most recently, the sprinter stayed under eleven seconds over 100 meters (10.99).
It remains questionable whether it will be enough for a medal at this year's World Championships.
The competition is big.
Athletics World Championships on TV
This World Cup should primarily accommodate early risers: ARD
and ZDF
broadcast live on a daily basis from Hayward Field Stadium in Eugene, mostly between 2 a.m. and 5 a.m. German time.
In addition, there is the Internet service of the two public broadcasters.
On a total of seven out of ten days of the competition, there will be live streams between 3 p.m. and 10.30 p.m. in the media libraries and on “sportschau.de” and “sportstudio.de”.
The journalist Maral Bazargani will be on duty for the ARD, the moderator for the second is Norbert König.
