Elaine Thompson-Hera, 100 and 200 meters

Thompson-Hera reaches the World Athletics Championships with a resume that only a few can compete with.

In Tokyo 2020, the 30-year-old athlete doubled her Mario 2016 victories in the 100-meter and 200-meter dash, by winning gold in both events at the second Olympics in a row.

Not everything went well this season at Jamaica's senior sprinter, suffering from an injury-stricken campaign that led her to finish only third in the 100m and second in the 200m at the Jamaica National Championships which served as tests for the World Championships.

In both cases, the winner was Olympic bronze medalist - Whistle Jackson.

Thompson-Hera, however, will still be a favorite to win the first personal world gold when she stands on the starting line in Oregon.

But you will have to overcome the challenges in the form of Jackson's compatriots, and of the Olympic medalist eight times - Shelley-Ann Fraser-Price.

Sydney McLaughlin, 400m hurdles

"I'm getting ready for the championship, so what do you expect?" Said McLaughlin, after breaking her world record in the American tests at the end of June. "Every time I come here I can just feel like something amazing is going to happen.

" When the reigning Olympic champion in the 400-meter hurdles will stand in exactly the same track at the upcoming World Championships, her 51.41 seconds, she shaved 0.05 seconds off her previous record at the 2020 Tokyo Games.

However, she has expectations that she will offset the record again, while fighting in the field of stars - including the 2016 Olympic champion Mario and the reigning world champion, her teammate Delilah Muhammad.

Julimar Rojas, triple jump

Just before the World Championships Rojas received a disappointing news, when she could not compete in the long jump competition, because the locks she wore in the competition where she achieved the criterion were not standard.

But rest assured, whoever earned the nickname 'Triple Jump Queen' will not break.

Rojas, who has been revealed in the industry since winning the silver medal in Rio 2016, has since twice added world gold medals and the Olympic title, in addition to a world record in an open stadium and a 15.67m and 15.74m hall set in Tokyo 2020, and a 2022 World Championship in Belgrade respectively.

All eyes will be on the unstoppable Venezuelan's leaps, seeking to add to her resume a third consecutive gold at the World Championships, and perhaps a new world record.

Alison Felix, 4X400m mixed

There's only one word that comes to mind when you think of the seven-time Olympic gold medalist Alison Felix: legend.

The 36-year-old Felix, the most decorated athlete in Olympic history and the most decorated (male or female) in the history of the World Championships with 18 medals in total (with 13 gold medals), is in the midst of her final season in sports after announcing her retirement earlier this year.

While individual medals are not on the agenda this time around, she will have the opportunity to help her team win the mixed 4x400m relay.

This will be her tenth appearance at the World Championships, hoping to get off the track one last time with a medal around her neck.

Armand Duplantis, pole vault

So often in international competition, the Swedish Armand 'Mundo' Duplantis finds himself in a league of his own.

The reigning Olympic pole vault champion is also the world record holder in an open-air hall and stadium, with his result reaching 6.20m at the World Athletics Championships in Belgrade this year, and the 6.16m outdoor record being broken on June 30 during the Stockholm Diamond League.

Expect more fireworks in Oregon, as Duplantis is aiming for only one thing - the gold it lacks in its resume at the World Championships.

After the 22-year-old athlete finished just with the silver medal three years ago in Doha, this year he wants to finish on the top step on the podium in Oregon.

Niraj Chopra, throwing a bayonet

In Tokyo 2020 Indian Niraj Chopra made history by becoming his country’s first ever gold medalist in the Athletics Olympics.

When he is only 24, the javelin thrower will have more than a billion people cheering him on as he tries to recreate his Olympic success at this year’s World Championships.

For Chopra to achieve his goal, he will have to go through a number of tremendous talents - including Anderson Peters of Granada, whose personal best is 93.07 meters, more than three meters away from Chopra's Indian national record with 89.94 meters.

Jacob Ingbrigtsen, 1,500 and 5,000 meters

When the Norwegian Ingbrigtsen Winery crossed the finish line with a new Olympic record in Tokyo 2020 there was a feeling among the athletic community that this would be the beginning of a period of dominance not seen before, rarely in sports.

The 1500-meter expert will aim to rise above his fourth place at the last World Championships in Doha, with the European champion standing on the starting line at two events in Oregon, with 5,000m on his radar as well.

Karsten Warholm, 400 meters hurdles

Another Norwegian on the list is the Olympic champion in the 400 meter hurdles Karsten Warholm.

The 26-year-old athlete, who broke the world record in Tokyo 2020 and won the gold medal, is also a double world champion - having won his first title in London 2017 and Doha 2019.

He will now direct his legs over the hurdles, to provide more exciting images as he did at last year’s Games when he tore his shirt at the end of the Olympic final.

He hopes to get his third gold when he hits the track at the revamped Hayward Field.
