Ralf Schumacher has been enjoying his retirement as a racing driver for a decade.

On the Red Bull Ring he proved that he has not forgotten how to drive.

Spielberg - The list of "future world champions" in Formula 1 is long.

In 2022, the premier class of motorsport is full of super talents.

Whether Charles Leclerc, Lando Norris or George Russell - everyone is believed to be capable of the title, Max Verstappen has already won it.

But a veteran put the current Formula 1 drivers in the shade: Ralf Schumacher conjured up a time on the track in his former Williams car from 2003 that is impressive.

He beat some active drivers with it.

Ralf Schumacher depends on current Formula 1 drivers in Austria

As part of the Legends Parade in Spielberg, Austria, Schumacher did a few laps in his old car from the 2003 season. Only the two World Championship rivals Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc were able to set his best lap time of 1:08.170 minutes at the Grand Prix weekend on the Beat the Red Bull Ring.

The rest of the field, such as seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton, was slower than the 47-year-old.

"I was faster, but I won't say by how much," he revealed to

before publishing his time on Instagram.

“After 20 years and carefully.

But the old cars can do something,” he comments on his post.

The current Formula 1 cars have around 1000 hp, the Williams from 2003 was throttled from 950 to 850 hp.

So how could Schumacher be faster?

The main reason is the weight, as the Sky expert explains: "The current cars are almost 2000 kilograms heavier.

Safety is what makes cars heavier these days.” Putting down such a time around 14 years after his last appearance in Formula 1 should make the old master justifiably proud.

Things also went well for his nephew Mick Schumacher at the Austrian Grand Prix.

After an extremely difficult start to the season, the Haas pilot seems to have finally broken the knot.

In Silverstone he finished eighth in the points for the first time in his career, in Spielberg he even finished sixth after numerous overtaking maneuvers (the race can be read in the ticker).
