With a new team of coaches and some additions, SE Freising is entering the 2022/23 state league season.

How is Florian Bittner's team doing?

– The wait is over: This weekend, the SE Freising state league football team will start with a guest appearance at TuS Geretsried.

This year - compared to previous years - some things will be different at the club in der Savoyer Au: A new team of coaches has started work, and the change in personnel was greater than initially expected.

At the start of the season, the FT takes a look at the different parts of the team.

The coaching duo

Officially, Florian Bittner (31) is Freising's new chief instructor, but he and assistant player coach Michael Schmid (37) appear in double pack.

Both have little coaching experience, but a lot of football expertise - and they seem to know how to keep the squad together and happy.

Not insignificant if the goal of the season is to be achieved at the end.

And that means for the young SEF this year: Relegation.

Goal

The new ones are also the old candidates for the position between the posts, and coach Florian Bittner almost has a luxury problem because both Maximilian Oswald and Patrik Heilmair proved their Landesliga format last season.

Both have their advantages - but it will also depend on who remains injury-free and can best combine obligations such as work and studies with football.

defense

With Osaro Aiteniora only one defender has left the club in the direction of Hallbergmoos.

Thanks to the many options, the chain of defense should also look different than under coach Alex Plabst for other reasons.

This is because Vitus Kirchberger is now free of symptoms and can be a serious candidate for the starting eleven at the start of the game.

He will also decide for himself whether he dares to play 90 minutes.

Then the SEF would have its defense chief back.

Jonas Mayr gave that last season, who should probably be the only seed.

Alternative as a sideman in the headquarters: assistant coach Michael Schmid.

The 37-year-old hardly shows his age.

Also conceivable: player-coach Florian Bittner puts himself in the back.

For stability - and because there is hardly any space in midfield.

For the wings, the coaching duo is spoiled for choice: with youngster Daniel Zanker, the SEF does nothing wrong anyway, and Niklas Tatzer is fit again.

Daniel Müller, the thoroughbred athlete with U19 Bundesliga experience, also seems prepared.

New in the defense is Frederic Rist, who came from TV Aiglsbach.

He made a good impression in preparation.

The young footballers Fabian Löw and Lukas Ederer should have little chance of starting eleven.

midfield

Nobody here has a guarantee of always playing, Bittner emphasized at the end of the preparation.

After a system changeover to two strikers, only four posts remain.

One of them should go to the young Felix Fischer, who impressed in his first year in the national league.

Competitor here: veteran Sebastian Thalhammer, but he can also slip into the back four if a massive man is needed next to Jonas Mayr.

Also at home in the center is newcomer Staas Mitko.

Despite little match practice recently, captain Florian Schmuckermeier is probably also set.

His passing and vision add structure to the SEF game.

The creative group is home to returnee and high-class technician Selim Magat – it will be interesting to see how he integrates into the team.

Ismaning new signing Johannes Kleidorfer left good impressions in the friendlies, as did Maximilian Rudzki, who is increasingly shedding his district league coat from Neufahrn times.

Still not back - and that adds to the competition - is Domagoj Tiric, one of the best of the past season.

Newcomer Christian Schmuckermeier, who came from Wartenberg at the last minute, still has to offer himself.

Storm

It will be really exciting how coach Bittner will solve the successor to goalgetter Andreas Hohlenburger.

One thing is clear: Due to a system change, the Freisingers are running with two attackers - also to spread the goal load over several shoulders.

Possibility one: With new signing Alexander Eppink, Bittner sends an experienced and physically robust man onto the field and provides him with a youngster.

Luka Brudtloff was already working hard in the pre-season, but the carefree Marcos Hones surprised everyone in preparation and scored regularly.

Possibility two: Bittner lets both youngsters off the leash together and hopes for the surprise effect.
