VfB Hallbergmoos is an outsider in its Bayern league opening game against TSV Landsberg.
Trainer Matthias Strohmaier gladly accepts this role.
Hallbergmoos/Landsberg
- Sascha Mölders (37) is the new face of the Bayernliga Süd.
The former professional, who was a crowd favorite at TSV 1860 Munich for many years, was hired as a player-coach at TSV Landsberg.
He will make his Bayern league debut tomorrow (2 p.m.) in the home game against VfB Hallbergmoos.
"Landsberg is the top favorite in the Bavarian league," says Hallbergmoos coach Matthias Strohmaier.
In the summer, the club brought in a number of top players from the regional league or leading players from Bayern league teams.
Landsberg is at least on a par with FC Memmingen or SV Schalding-Heining, who want to quickly correct the industrial accident of the regional league relegation.
Landsberg could definitely assert itself against the competition due to its quality, but is faced with the task of forming a functioning team from the collection of characters.
(By the way: everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.)
The Hallbergmoosers have absolutely nothing to lose in Landsberg.
"No one expected us to be seen again in the Bayernliga," says VfB coach Strohmaier, who really wants to play the outsider role.
Defensive edge Strohmaier would of course love to play against Sascha Mölders, but the team comes first: "Last season we defeated champions Hankofen-Hailing and the best team from the second half of the season, Ingolstadt II.
We just want to make sure that nobody likes to play against us again.” nb
Expected lineup:
VfB: Dinkel - Petschner, Mömkes, Strohmaier, Kersting - Giglberger, Beetz, Kostorz - Werner, Krause (Lucksch) - David (Joseph).
