Gérard, what is your very first memory of the Tour de France?

Gérard Holtz:

I come from a very poor family in Belleville and we had TV very late, but we had a huge radio that allowed us to follow the Tour de France.

My first memories were therefore radio and not television.

I especially remember Darrigade's victories in the first stages of the Tour de France which allowed him to take the yellow jersey.

Overall, I tend to be very backward-looking, very vintage, so I love the stories of Eugène Christophe, Maurice Garin and the Pelissier brothers, with particular admiration for the sprinters who put on a great show on a formidable stage.

What is your first great joy on the Tour de France?

There was a time when I was very close to the Z team, the formation of Greg LeMond that I love.

He was a huge runner, with a lot of humor.
