PSG: Etikite, why a loan like for Mbappé or Aurier before him

2022-07-17T11:29:58.020Z

The 20-year-old Stade de Reims striker is only on loan to the capital club for one season. All with an almost obligatory purchase option

35 million euros bonus included.

Yes, but not right away.

In the agreement that PSG reached with Stade de Reims for the transfer of striker Hugo Ekitike, a one-year loan was first concluded.

This is chargeable and comes with a mandatory purchase option, payable before the end of the current season.

This operation is similar to that carried out in 2017 for the transfer of Kylian Mbappé from AS Monaco or in 2014 of Serge Aurier from Toulouse.

Paris has already spent more than 60 million euros

For PSG, it's all good.

Because his accounts remain under surveillance.

Before the DNCG, the financial policeman of French football, the club of the capital explained that it benefited from an 80 M€ budget on the transfer market, excluding potential sales.

However, for the time being, he has already spent 78 M€ corresponding to transfers from Vitinha (40 M€) and the arrival of Nuno Mendes (38 M€), also on loan last season.

Sales level: goalkeepers Alphonse Areola and Marcin Bulka against around €15m.

Net, the PSG has therefore already spent more than 60 M € (78-15).

By paying up front the €35 million claimed by Reims for Ekitike, the capital club would therefore have already exceeded the stated objective.

And the transfer window is not over since Renato Sanches (Lille), Milan Skriniar (Inter Milan) or Gianluca Scamacca (Sassuolo) are the next targets.

For sales, a good ten players are considered starters for the club, but none have been sold for the time being.

Reims helping hand

Stade de Reims, which does not urgently need the cash promised for Ekitike immediately, has therefore agreed to "help" PSG and its young player so that the operation suits everyone.

The TFC had done the same in the summer of 2014 for the transfer of Serge Aurier and, above all, AS Monaco in 2017 with Kylian Mbappé.
