Tour de France: finally a day for sprinters? Everything you need to know about the 15th stage between Rodez and Carcassonne

At the end of 202.5 relatively flat kilometers, the sprinters have a chance to finally put themselves in value, they who did not have much

Sprinters have been served very little since July 1.

Between hills, cobblestones or mountains, they are reduced to the bare minimum.

To end a grueling second week, the organizers have concocted a fairly flat stage for them, with only two third category climbs, which should suit the big legs of the peloton.

The latter will join Rodez to Carcassonne over 202.5 km.

Cavendish's Day of Glory

A stopover town for the twelfth time, the Aude town marked the history of the Grande Boucle last year.

This is where Englishman Mark Cavendish won his fourth sprint in the 2021 Tour de France. Bringing his total stage wins to 34. This allowed him to equal the Great Eddy Merckx.

This year, to his great despair, he was not retained by Patrick Lefevere, his boss at Quick-Step for the Tour.

Worse, the latter also let him know that his contract, which ends on December 31, 2022, would not be renewed…

The eye of Thierry Gouvenou

“We are on the same principle as the Saint-Étienne stage: we are planning a sprint finish.

For this, we bypassed the Montagne Noire which offered too great difficulties.

Be careful though: in Carcassonne, you always have to be very careful of the wind.

In the end, we can very well have breaks.

So it won't necessarily be a day of rest for the leaders even if we didn't draw it with the aim of trapping the best.

The favourite

How not to think of Fabio Jakobsen, the Dutch sprinter of Quick-Step, who was spared on Saturday between Saint-Étienne and Mende.

After his victory during the 2nd stage in Denmark between Roskilde and Nyborg, he seems the most likely to win at the foot of the famous city.

It is up to his training to control a possible breakaway in order to witness a massive sprint at the finish.
