Jasper Philipsen can raise his arms

In Calais (4th stage), the Belgian sprinter had celebrated what he imagined to be a victory.

Before learning that Wout van Aert had 8 seconds left, crossed the line.

This time, the sprinter from the Alpecin-Deceuninck team launched his bike well ahead of Van Aert and Mads Pedersen.

Already winner of three stages on the Vuelta, he signs his first success on the Tour, he who turned around (8 podiums on the Grande Boucle in the last two years).

After Fabio Jakobsen (in Nyborg), Dylan Groenewegen in Sonderborg and Wout Van Aert in Dole, Philipsen (24) is snatching his bouquet.

Sprinters share.

The panache of Benjamin Thomas

At the top of the Cammazes coast, 48 km from the finish, the Frenchmen Benjamin Thomas (Cofidis) and Alexis Gougeard (B&B Hôtels-KTM) broke away taking over from Nils Politt (Bora-Hansgrohe), winner of the prize fighting spirit, and Mikkel Honoré (Quick Step-Alpha Vinyl) who had 1'40'' with 100 km to go.

The tricolor duo clinging to a thin gap (never more than 30'') gave everything.

4 km from the finish, Benjamin Thomas set off alone, in pursuit.

A nice last stand finally crushed by the horde of sprinters 400m from the line... The French are still waiting for a first stage victory on this Tour 2022. And Cofidis is still chasing a stage victory on the Grande Loop since 2008…

FLOPS

The misfortunes of Jumbo-Visma

The Dutch team had crossed without damage the pitfalls of the Tour de France.

This Sunday, the package of Primoz Roglic (fallen during the 5th stage on the cobblestones), followed by the fall of the Dutchman Steven Kruijswijk (63 km from the finish) forced to abandon then the fright experienced by Jonas Vingegaard fell six kilometers after his teammate.

The 15th stage, crushed by the heat, reminded the Yellow Jersey and its teammates that nothing would be easy until Paris.

Van Aert's Oblivion

Since the start of the Tour, the versatile Belgian has been dazzling.

Alternately a model team member, then a hunter for stage victories.

At the heart of this 15th stage full of traps, the Belgian who was close to Steven Kruijswijk at the time of his fall, was not alongside Jonas Vingegaard when the yellow jersey fell.

The Dane was able to regain his place in the peloton but Van Aert favored an intermediate sprint and the quest for points for the green jersey.

A choice that could have had serious consequences.
