Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce won a record 5th 100m world champion title at the age of 35, leading a Jamaican hat-trick on Sunday at the World Championships in Eugene (Oregon).
Fraser-Pryce ran in 10 sec 67 (0.8 m/s of wind) to edge Shericka Jackson (10.73) and Olympic champion Elaine Thompson-Herah (10.81).
The three Jamaicans had already achieved the hat-trick last summer at the Tokyo Olympics, in a different order: Thompson-Herah had beaten Fraser-Pryce and Jackson.

Of exceptional longevity, Fraser-Pryce, nicknamed “Pocket Rocket” (the pocket rocket), had already won the title on the straight line in 2009, 2013, 2015 and 2019. She is also a double Olympic champion on the distance ( 2008 and 2012).
The sprinter thus won her 12th medal at the World Championships, the 10th in gold, making her the 4th most decorated athlete in the history of the competition, behind the American Allyson Felix (19 medals), and her two compatriots Usain Bolt (14) and Merlene Ottey (14).
Long yellow and green hair, in the colors of Jamaica, Fraser-Pryce capitalized on an excellent start, her specialty, to spend the entire race in the lead and allow herself to raise her arms on the line, sure of her victory.
