This is Maxime Pianfetti's first senior medal.
At 23, the French fencer became vice-world champion in saber.
In Cairo, Egypt, he paved the way for the French by winning the first tricolor medal on Monday, for his first participation in the Worlds.
Maxime Pianfetti was a surprise guest in the final.
He lost in the final against Hungarian Aron Szilagyi, three-time Olympic champion, by just one touch (15-14).
The French, 25th world shooter, had achieved a formidable course, notably eliminating the world No. 1, the Korean Kim Junghwan.
A crazy game.
Unbelievable.
Maxime Pianfetti lost by a very small point: 15-14 against the triple Hungarian Olympic champion Szilágyi.
The Frenchman is vice-world saber champion in Cairo.
