All information about the European Football Championship for women at a glance.
Munich – In July 2022, the European Championship
Women's EURO 2021 will be
held in England, where 16 Women's Championship teams will compete for the title.
Since the women traditionally always hold their European Championships a year later than the men, the tournament should already take place in the summer of 2021.
Due to the corona pandemic, the men's EURO 2020 had to be postponed to 2021.
As a result, July 2022 automatically became the new date for the women's European Championship.
Since numerous promotional items, documents, etc. had already been produced, the name
Women's EURO 2021
remained .
The game will be played from July 6th to July 31st.
The final squad bids for each team must be submitted to UEFA before the start of the European Championship.
So far, the same regulations have applied to the nomination as to the men: 23 players can be nominated.

Women's EURO 2022: The game mode - group stage and knockout round
group stage
The group phase begins on July 6, 2022. The four groups play one after the other - first group A, then B, then C and then D. Both games in a group usually take place on the same day.
The only exception is the first matchday of Group A: On this day (July 6th) only the opening game of the Women's EURO 2021 will take place.
The team from England meets the team from Austria.
A day later (July 7th) there will be the second game.
In order to get into an even rhythm, there are no more games that day.
The group stage will end on July 18, 2022 with the final games of Group D.
The top two finishers in each group qualify for the knockout phase, which is the quarterfinals-semifinals-finals phase.
Kick-off times are always 6:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. CET.
Quarterfinals to finals
From the quarter-finals, the knockout system continues.
The winner of group A plays against the runner-up in group or the winner of group B against the runner-up in group A. If there is a tie after the regular 90 minutes, the game goes into overtime.
At the EM 2001, overtime was played according to the golden goal rule, i.
H.
the team that scores the first goal in overtime wins the game.
Such a golden goal by Claudia Müller made the German team European champions in 2001.
However, this rule was abolished again, so that since 2005 a complete overtime has been played again.
If there is still no winner after extra time, the match will be decided on penalties.
Until 2013, two teams from the same preliminary round group could only meet again in the semifinals at the earliest, at the EM 2017 this was only possible again in the final at the earliest.
A game for third place has not been played since 1995.
The winners of the semifinals play in the final for the European Championship title.
The European champion gets a trophy and can wear the title until the next European championship.

Frauen-EM 2022: Die Qualifikationsphase der Europameisterschaft
Hosts England (3rd place in the 2015 World Cup and European Championship finalists in 1984 and 2009) were the only team that automatically qualified for the finals.
The remaining teams played a qualification with nine groups of five or six teams each.
The nine group winners and the three runners-up with the best record against first, third, fourth and fifth in their group qualified directly.
The other six runners-up in April 2021 determined the last three finalists in play-off duels.
