As far as points are concerned, there has been little reason to be happy at SE Freising - but there is with the performance of newcomer Christian Schmuckermeier.

Freising

– There are stories that only football writes.

The end of the summer transfer period was already approaching, when the liaison between Christian Schmuckermeier and the state league team SE Freising finally materialized.

Actually, the young striker - who has been active for TSV Wartenberg in the district league and district class for four seasons so far - wanted to stay with his home club.

"Kicking with the Spezln", as Schmuckermeier calls it.

But then there was the offer from the cathedral city.

When there were finally further discussions with the parents and brother Florian - Freising's captain - at the end of June, the club from the Savoyer Au finally got their dream player with the second Schmuckermeier.

The strong attacking newcomer doesn't look like he's only in his early 20s. One gets the impression that he's been playing in the state league for years.

SE Freising: Newcomer Christian Schmuckermeier with two goals in his debut debut

And because football writes the most beautiful stories, it almost had to happen like on Tuesday evening at the SEF's first home game of this national league season.

In the starting eleven against Landshut was: Christian Schmuckermeier.

In the end, the Freisingers lost 4-2.

But who was involved in the two goals of the SEF?

Christian Schmuckermeier, who had even scored the interim Freising lead in the 35th minute.

With a great hit: Accepted pass, turned around an opponent, deliberately shot into the far corner.

"It wasn't a coincidence," praised coach Florian Bittner afterwards.

"We already know why we really wanted him." The 23-year-old prepared the second goal with a spirited shot.

Accordingly, Schmuckermeier grinned from ear to ear after the game: "The fact that I score a goal right away, that's super awesome."

(By the way: everything from the region is now also in our regular Freising newsletter.)

And also that it was enough for a starting eleven on the second matchday.

There are currently a few injured players, says Schmuckermeier.

He had hoped a little that he would get his chance – it was also an English week.

"And then I just did what the coach told me to do," says the ex-Wartenberger.

However, there were other players on the bench that Bittner could have brought.

However, he opted for the last-minute signing, who had presented himself superbly in training and has now more than justified the trust placed in him.

Schmuckermeier remains modest: "I play when and where I'm needed"

Schmuckermeier, who learned to play football at TSV Wartenberg and has since scored 21 goals in 69 games in four seasons in the district class and district league, has not regretted anything so far.

"I was also looking for a challenge," assures the 23-year-old.

What Schmuckermeier took with him above all: The pace is completely different than two or even three leagues lower, “on the pitch and above all in my head”.

The goal to make it 1-0 showed that it can still work out quite well.

"It's a great experience when you score." Schmuckermeier was also one of the players who chased after almost every ball on Tuesday, even after the 1:3.

Coach Florian Bittner should have noticed that too.

With regard to the future, Schmuckermeier tells what young players say at the beginning.

First and foremost, of course, he wants to help the team, "I play when and where I'm needed."

The starting eleven is of course still a dream.

One or the other story that only football writes will certainly be added.
