Starting on September 19, a new tournament will be held in San Diego in the United States on a hard surface, and at the end of it, as mentioned, the best players will also come to the 'Expo' in Tel Aviv.

A day after announcing the existence of a new ATP tournament in Tel Aviv in September, the men's tennis circuit announced today (Friday) a series of annual events added to the calendar.

Starting on September 19, a new tournament will be held in San Diego in the United States on a hard surface, and at the end of it, as mentioned, the best players will also come to the 'Expo' in Tel Aviv, in the same hall that recently hosted the European Artistic Gymnastics Championships and previously the European Judo Championships and the Eurovision Song Contest.

On October 10, another tournament will open in the hall, this time in Florence, Italy, and the same week also a new event in Gijón, Spain.

In addition, this is the third year in which the masters championships in Shanghai - China Open, in Beijing - Chengdu Open and Zhuhai will not be held due to the corona epidemic.

Andrea Gaudenzi, chairman of the ATP, said: "As a global sport we continue to deal with the epidemic.

Event cancellations are an unfortunate reality.

At the same time, it is encouraging that there are many big cities interested in hosting tennis on the ATP tour this season."

"This shows the strong international interest in our product and validates the approach we have taken in response to rapidly changing circumstances. We would like to thank all stakeholders involved in this process and look forward to an exciting second half of the season."
