Vince McMahon made official tonight (between Friday and Saturday) what was inevitable for him: the chairman and CEO of the WWE resigned from his position amid the accusations against him of having sex with female employees and the payment of hush money he gave to four women, totaling 12 million dollars .
Already last month it was known that McMahon is expected to retire due to the ongoing investigation against him.
"At 77, it's time for me to retire. Thank you, WWE world. So. Today. Forever. Together," tweeted the man who has become the face of the wrestling industry since the 1980s.
His daughter Stephanie, who until now served as brand manager, will replace her father in the role and will share it together with president Nick Kahn.
McMahon is accused, among other things, of paying $3 million to silence an employee with whom he had an extramarital affair with his wife Linda.
The suspicion is that McMahon doubled his lover's salary after she agreed to Kimi having sex with him, and even "pimped her" and "passed her around like a toy" between WWE executives.
The outgoing CEO was previously involved in a number of other scandals, and not only in a sexual context. In the 1990s, he was accused of supplying wrestlers with steroids through illegal prescriptions, and it was also alleged that he forced Canadian wrestler Tris Stratos to get down on her knees and bark "like a dog."
