Le Castellet – Formula 1 is entering the second half of the season – eleven of the 22 races have been completed.

World champion Max Verstappen is still 38 points ahead of his worst opponent Charles Leclerc, but the Scuderia has caught up in recent weeks.

Ferrari recently celebrated two wins in a row, Carlos Sainz won at Silverstone and Leclerc in Spielberg.

And in Le Castellet, too, they seem to have the edge again.

After the impressions of the first day of training it is Leclerc and Sainz who have to be beaten.

The Spaniard Sainz set the best time of the day in 1:32.527 minutes, Leclerc had been in front in the first practice session.

For Verstappen it was enough for second and third place, but in the much faster second session the Dutchman was more than half a second behind the leaders.

The German pilots Sebastian Vettel in the Aston Martin and Mick Schumacher in the Haas, on the other hand, did not have a good day of practice - in both sessions they ended up well outside the top ten.

Schumi junior finished in the points for the first time in his F1 career in the last two races and is looking to continue his run.

With twelve points, he is only three points and one place behind his mentor Vettel and could overtake the four-time world champion for the first time in the world championship standings.

During the week, Mick's father Michael Schumacher was honored with the State Prize of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia.

Daughter Gina and Michael's wife Corinna Schumacher accepted the award on Wednesday in Cologne on behalf of the Formula 1 record world champion.

However, Mick was absent and canceled his participation due to being unwell.

"I didn't want to sit there battered and ill, but I'm feeling much better," he explained his absence and emphasized: "I'm very, very proud of my father." In Le Castellet he wants to be proud of his father on the racetrack again make.
