Volleyball: the French team wins against Italy and will play the final of the League of Nations

The France team has made its law on Italian soil.

In Bologna, Andrea Giani's men made short work of the Squadra Azzurra and won three sets to zero.

After a disputed first set, won 25-22 by the blues, Earvin Ngapeth's teammates passed the second in the second set (25-20) before blowing up their opponents in the final set (25-15).

The tricolors will be opposed Sunday in the final (9 p.m.) to the United States, easy winners a little earlier of Poland, double world champion (3-0), in the other semi-final.

At stake, a third title in this competition for the Blues after those gleaned in 2015 and 2017. Led by a gala Jean Patry, the reigning Olympic champions then dedicated their victory to journalist Xavier Richefort, flagship commentator of volleyball on La Chaîne L'Équipe, died suddenly on Friday at the age of 59.

The French team will therefore have the opportunity on Sunday to fill its trophy cabinet and gain confidence before the World Championships which will take place in Poland and Slovenia from August 26 to September 11.
