Ahmet Bilici from Hallbergmoos and Marcel Berger from Freising have won German titles in beach wrestling.

Once there was even a district duel in the final.

Hallbergmoos

– Those responsible at SV Siegfried Hallbergmoos looked at the weather report on Saturday with anxious expressions.

Because just at the premiere of the open German beach wrestling championships in the course of their 100-year celebration, the curve went up significantly in the probability of rain.

In the end, however, only a few drops came down - and it wasn't as hot as on the days before.

Much to the delight of the martial artists who fought for titles and podium places on sand in the Hallbergmooser Sportpark.

And the ambience was perfect: the two fighting circles were arranged between the grandstands.

The fans therefore had everything in view - and saw two district wrestlers who could not be defeated.

Two Hallbergmoosers fight for gold

In the men's category up to 90 kilos, two Hallbergmoosers marched relentlessly towards the final.

Ahmet Bilici had no problems with any of his opponents and even defeated his former teammate Andreas Walter (Unterföhring) prematurely in the semifinals.

Ergün Aydin only had to give up a technical rating against Pascal Göbel (Artern) in the semi-finals, but ultimately won easily.

In the final, Aydin tried his best against his teammate, but Bilici had more experience on clay.

He managed two ratings to win 2-0 and can now call himself German champion.

Emrah Aydin (7th) and Andreas Reiss (10th) from SVS could also be satisfied with their performances.

Marcel Berger from SpVgg Freising entered the ring for the men weighing up to 80 kilos.

Having just emerged from a serious injury, he didn't start with too many expectations.

But Berger won one fight after the other and was finally in the final.

However, by the time this took place, everyone's nerves were strained.

A mistake had crept into the competition system: a wrestler who actually qualified for the round of 16 didn't show up there, but only reported when it was already too late.

On his side of the tableau, therefore, some fights had to be made up, which clearly lengthened the event.

At around 8.30 p.m. the final pairing was finally set: Marcel Berger met Laurin Huber (Unterföhring) and was able to celebrate after his early 3-0 win.

Minimalist on the podium

In the highest class over 90 kilos, SVS chairman Michael Prill showed himself to be a minimalist: he won a fight three times with a score of 0:0 and benefited from the rule that in the event of a tie, the lighter wrestler emerges as the winner.

He also managed this feat in the small final against Fahim Naimi from France.

Two-time world champion Fatih Yasarli won the title.

Matthias Wimmer (SVS) and Damian Dudzinski (SpVgg) were eliminated in the preliminary round.

Some district athletes also competed up to 70 kilos.

Hasan Gör from Hallbergmoos failed to win the medal in fourth place in the final.

Manuel Striedl, Thomas Kopp and Danial Matcovschi from SVS as well as Csongor Knipli from Freising also achieved a few victories, but were eliminated in the quarterfinals and round of 16 respectively.

For Amir Hussaini from Hallbergmoos it was over after the preliminary round.

There was no district participation for women: Jessica Lindner (50 kilos, Riegelsberg), Andrea Grasruck (60 kilos, Neumarkt) and Sara Trbulin (70 kilos, Poljcane) became champions.

In the end, Siegfried Chairman Prill was able to state: “We can be very satisfied.

A lot of spectators came - and the championships, with the exception of the mistake in the competition up to 80 kilos, went perfectly.
