French GP: Verstappen triumphs ahead of Hamilton and Russell, Leclerc gives up

Max Verstappen took an option on the title on Sunday.

The Dutchman won the French Grand Prix at Le Castellet (Var) ahead of Mercedes drivers Lewis Hamilton and George Russell.

At the same time, his rival for the world crown, Charles Leclerc, had to retire after going off the track on the 18th lap.

Consequently, the Batavian widen the gap at the top of the world championship and will take a lead of around sixty points.

On the French side, Esteban Ocon (Alpine), despite a collision at the start of the race with Yuki Tsunoda, finished in the points, in 8th place, while Pierre Gasly (Alpha Tauri) took 12th place.
